Tepai won't be back this year due to school rugby commitments. I heard he is signed for another year or two so will have to wait for 2014 to see him back in NYC

Thanks for the info. The kid is talented. Seems a weird set up but it's good that we have him signed up.

He goes to Newington, which is a GPS school. They play their rugby on Saturday mornings and if it's anything like Kings School sport is compulsory.

We might lose access to the player during GPS rugby season, but it's only about eight games and it stops when the player finishes high school.

Yes some of the schools enforce mandatory participation.

There are 2 kids in my son's year that have switched from one particular school. They are under contract with Sydney FC & Swans respectively and the former school would not allow them to play on Saturdays with those clubs if it interfered with their First XI or First XV games.

Pretty dumb way to treat elite sportsmen IMHO.

Having said that the Eels kid could be on a scholarship. In that case he might be best to STFU. ;-)

You reckon the elite sportsmerkins deserve special treatment? They may as well get used to it, hey?

If the skinny Chinese kid is forced to play rugby I can't see why the contracted junior sporting star shouldn't also be. These are school kids, and their part-time jobs shouldn't interfere with their school activities.

I don't think anyone's complaining. Private schools produce better people and that benefits the kid and his future (and current) employers.

No that's not what I think.

Bullshit.

Correct.

private school produced u hey pou?

No. But my wife and my siblings went to private schools and they are better people.

I was too much of a shitmerkin and my old man wouldn't waste the money.

Anyway, I went to a public and then a Catholic (semi-private) high school and the Catholic school was a better place full of better people.

.....not that you wish to make a sweeping generalisation or anything.

Sometime true, sometimes not....but is becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy these days. I have a mate who is so proud of his GPS heritage that he insists he attended a GPS kindergarten by correspondence when living in outback QLD.

We took our kids out of a local private school and sent them to the local catholic school.
The catholic school is 10 times better at a tenth of the cost.
And you are right about the people. The catholic school feels like a family. The private school was full of wannabe merkins.

Private schools also produce some of the most disgusting human beings on the planet and foster attitudes that will just continue to alienate the already marginalised.

Some of the best people I have met are public school products.

I know you're just fishing anyway Pou so good luck, I'm sure you'll hook a few real big ones here.

Why is it that the Anglican based private schools are more expensive than the Catholic schools? Is it all about funding ?

It's a relic of older days, when they just assumed that the Catholic families were going to qualify for a bulk discount, so they applied it to the 1st child.

The Anglican schools all run independently of one another where as the Catholic schools are all linked and run under the Catholic Education Office which is separated into different regions (This is how it works in NSW, not sure about other states).

I'm going to give the Catholic system a go for my daughter and see what it's like. Don't like the public school kids at her present school. It's like a scene from Puberty Blues.

In the networks we are part of the list of pedophiles reported is greater in Christian schools, particularly pre schools and kindergarten. From the many victims coming forward, mostly families coming together with their testimonials, and there are tens of thousands of them in Australia, in boys schools, the highest rates of terrible sexual abuse occurs in Catholic schools, particularly private schools. But it doesn't just stop there. As I said, this will all break out on to the surface and it will not be controlled by the media or the government or the law or the police. May you live to experience this massive backlash coming from hundreds of thousands of Australians, possibly millions.
