we need to have a very strong team to accomodate Barba. He's half the size of Preston but his skill is awesome. I watched us win the Penrith trial with him, yet without him we got flogged last week against the same team. Not bad so far in U'20's so far, have played both grand finalists and just lost to Warriors away and flogged Souths, just need 1st grade to fire

Unfortunately for Marmin, his defence makes Ben Barbas defence look like Hindmarsh. Marmin is a rubbish defender.

As i've said before, Terepo is a fine leader and played well toinght. Asiata, O'Hanlon & Brien were all also very good. Ava Seuman******? did pretty well also.
Kyle Fraser did a couple of good things in defence.

Wehbe is rubbish. I'm sorry if anyone here is related as i don't mean to offend, but wow he is just useless outside of goal kicking.
Bruest is ok but not really that good.
Loko has still got some learning to do, as far as how to defend, but it takes at least 3-4 defenders to stop him.
Gagan seems pretty good, but again needs to learn about positional play in defence.
Toutai doesn't fill me with much hope, but may come good.

Does anyone else think that our hookers are very small?

Captain BF, you summed it up well. i will say Gagan has a physique and I think he will be a good player. He put a massive shot on a forward. He has more skills and isn usually a fullback. First try Souths scored barba didn't want to know about the tackle but it runs in the family. Ben Barba was a bigger turnstyle than at Woolies last year. Marmin needs to baulk up but I doubt he'll make it under Kearney who doesn't even play our second best attacking hooker in mitchell

people need to consider that most of those guys such as Baba, Bruest, Wehebe and Gagan are playing their first full season of NYC fresh out to the SG Ball comp and a lot of those kids are still elligible for that comp.

plenty of development in them yet.

If Morts can't compete physically in NRL, how the fug will Barba ?

if blokes like Benji and Preston can make it in this game, Marmin can..he has the makings of a fine footballer and obviously 2 years away from fg but I can see him getting there.

Plenty of smaller stature players have suceeded at the top level as Stagger has already mentioned, also remember a small scrawny bloke from Queensland called Langer that seem to cope ok despite a small physique.

Look at Toovey, and he ended up playing hooker.

Agreed I think Whebe is sh*t, though he struts around like his top notch 1st grader, same as u dont mean to offend, saying that he is very very average.

anyone see the game ?

Yeah, saw the last 50 minutes. We were leading 16-10 at that stage.

Good performance - we actually looked organised in attack. The Dogs came back with some soft tries and dubious calls but we were the better team. The forwards worked well - still question marks over decision making in the opp 20m but they are getting better.

There was a stink about 2 minutes from the end. The Dogs were trying to make a comback 90 metres out and got involved in a nothing fight. PLayers came running in, 1 from each team in the bin. But the best part was the fight ate away 2 minutes of game time which suited us.

I thought it was a really good win considering the start we had to the match. Being down 10-0 fairly early, we worked our way back in. I reckon we must have been 10-0 down on the penalty account as well. Just amazing how many went against us early. Barba was excellent in attack and was more solid in defence than other games. Bruest did pretty well i thought. He put on a really nice Crock-Slater chip n chase with Barba that led to Bruest's try. Bruest chipped regathered, passed to Barba who sent Bruest over. The only things i can say negative about Barba was that at one stage late in the 1st half he had a 5 on 1 or 2 overlap and instead of taking the easy play to get a try, he went himself and stepped back into and throughthe sliding defence. A better defender would have stopped him and he would have looked a right goose.
Wehbe played better than any other game i have seen him play. Also put in a few good kicks that found the grass and space.
Our forwards were pretty good. O'hanlon has work on ball security a bit more. Asiata was strong. Dean Blackman was excellent!
For the Wehbe try, Terepo did the best impersonation of Arthur Beetson i have seen in years. The around-the-corner pass for Wehbe was just magic.
Also good to see the boys play with some fire.

I like what I have seen from Barba since the Penrith trial.

He has plenty of potential, I look forward to seeing his progression.
