I actually emailed Michael Buettner (Toyota Cup Manager) about this last year.

Here is the response I received

Thanks for your enquiry regarding eligibility for Finals for players competing in the Toyota Cup.

The simple answer without going into to much detail is a player such as Chris Sandow will be required to have played the majority of the games throughout season 2008 in the Toyota Cup to be eligible to compete in the Final Series. I believe Chris has played approx. 10 Toyota Cup games therefore would be required to compete in another 2 matches of this competition to be eligible for the Finals Series.

If Chris remains in the NRL squad for the remainder of the season then based on the number of games he has currently played he would not be eligible for the Toyota Cup Final Series. I would expect, depending on how well the Rabbitohs are going with Chris at halfback that they would look to qualify him for the Toyota Cup Final Series prior to the end of the season.

Back to the juniors. Hopefully Tui is back this week.

Also I noticed that this week both Josh Carr and Austin Dias started for Guildford in the Sydney Shield.

Good to see that Dias is playing well. We signed him mid SG ball season and he still has another year there. Very tall and when I spoke to Field about him he had a bit to work on but was progressing nicely. He really is the epitome of the type of young prop we're signing. He's around 195-200cm tall. I still haven't seen him play, I'll see if I can get out to Guildford this week

I think he's dropped back to the bench this week because Twal has come back from ISP.

Sorry to hassle you guys but a few months ago there was speculation Souths had signed Tyrell Fuimaono. All I know is he's a backrower who can fill in at centre and was highly touted. Any other info I need to know?

He's fantastic in attack (most metres gained across the NYC and 2nd highest average) but his defence is bad for a player who has trained regularly with the first grade squad.

If he can fix his defensive issues he'll be a really good player.

What are the thoughts on Stowers? I thought he put in a pretty decent performance in the last home game at Parra, was it against Manly? I can't see him being a star but a very solid 2nd tier or 1st grade fill-in player. Or is it that Manly are just genuinely bad in the NYC?

Pretty average player, he may make ISP but I wouldn't be banking on it. Manly are also horrid in the NYC, they've only won 3 games this year.
