I just realised this might explain why Afualo hasn't been playing for the under 20s.

I think these tournaments should be played after the 20s season. We had 2 boys miss their school grand final because they were in camp for Australian schoolboys.

Even the U12s re impacted coming into the end of season, my grandsons side had 3 players in rep games as they lost to the side on same points who were intact

Can't deny the boys the opportunity to play schoolboy reps, this has been happening for years

Seems ridiculous that they play at the same time. Why does this happen?

Thought we dominated the Tigers down the middle on Saturday arvo, that was obviously a ploy with us having 3 middle forwards on the bench, but I don't recall Steve Dresler having any game time and if he did it was insignificant, can someone confirm or tell me what happened there?

Not sure about that one. Some of my current "favourite" players weren't juniors. Manu Ma'u, Kenny Edwards and Beau Scott for example.

Id argue a little on Manu and KE thou. They along with Moi Moi where perhaps not juniors but where unknown prior.
Beau Scott yes.And Norman is one of my favorite players but Teps and Alvaro id lean towards.

They didn't play in any of our junior teams (NYC or below) only ever played open age competitions for us. I do not consider them to be Eels juniors, doesn't mean they can't be or won't be considered when picking my "favourite" player.

For those that are interested, the St Michael's Baulkham Hills U9 team today claimed the title of 2016 NSW State All Schools Champions.

**edit - was the U9's not the U10's

Here is a link.

Yep, they have an All Schools Primary and Secondary competitions.
Primary has U9's, U11's and Open.

In that photo they wear bibs I see. I'm guessing DH is the designated Dummy Half? Is FR Front Row? Does every position have to wear a bib?

EDIT - I've looked it up, FR is First Receiver for Mod Rules. My impression is that the DH and FR can run and be tackled without having to pass the ball with the normal "two pass" rule. Interesting new rule for Mod.

Yep, I think that's how it works.
I only have a daughter so dont get to see much of the games, but one of our friends sons is a pretty good young player and whenever he has the FR bib on, he seems to run in length of the field tries without needing to pass it.

Only those 2 have bibs. They are the only 2 that are able to run from dummy half.
No, any player can run from dummy half, any player can score from dummy half. But if you get tackled running from dummy half and don't have the bib on, it's a change over. Same goes for the first receiver bib.

Also within your 20 metre zone, anyone can run from first receiver and get tackled without the bib and no change over.

I thought that was implied by what i said but i guess not.
The rule was brought in to promote half play and stop the biggest player in the team from just getting the ball at dummy half or first receiver and barging through everyone. The bibs have to be changed to a different player each half. Its not foolproof but it was better than the old way

And your teammates get to call you a DH, and then you get to wear the DH bib in the next set of six...?

(Just joking, sounds like a good way to introduce the little ones to positional play.)
