Hi all,
Just letting you know that the Parramatta Eels Supporters Club has new President at the helm. I'm very interested in growing our membership base for 2010 and beyond. Membership is open to all ages Australia wide. Membership is $10 to join and $5 every year after. The club meets every 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Leagues Club, this is where we can provide a forum to raise all your concerns or just general questions and ideas that will be conveyed to the Football and Leagues Clubs. PM me for a membership application, they are also available from the B&G Store.
Supporters buses are up and running for the majority of away games this year, starting with the double header at Gosford on the 27th Feb. Tickets for the buses are available from the B&G store during business hours. Despite some adverse comments made about this service last year, it was and still is a great way to travel to away games and for door to door service it's a far better option than the rail system. And No, it's not full of whinging oldies.
So come along, get involved and support the Might Eels in 2010. Hope to see you at the game.

Who was the old President. Did you overthrow him with a bloodless coup?

Yes the PESC is sanctioned by the club, it has been a part of the club for over 30 years. I was elected to the position of President at the AGM last November. i have also started a group on that social site. I am looking for your hard earned but I'm more interested in looking at supporters joining our club.

Well....... What's the story? Who are the officials, patrons, does the Club have a constitution? How many active members..What is the Clubs goal?
What is its financial position? Do the books get audited?

Well........ We have a elected committee of 9, Mr Alan Overton is the patron, we have a constitution. The financial position is healthy, and yes the books most certainly get audited.
We organise buses to away games for supporters, we meet regularly every second Tuesday of each month, where members have the ability to express their views on how their team and cub are performing on and off the field. We insist that members adhere to the clubs code of conduct for fans, which can be viewed on their website. The PESC is in a rebuilding phase and one of the major goals for the year is grow our membership base and to give those members a voice in their club. Another goal is to provide a significant presence of Eels supporters at the away games to show we are the number one supported team.

You can get Membership Applications from the B&G Shop or alternatively you can PM me and I'll email a application to you.

Membership is not just for Sydney/Parramatta based fans. We have members as far south as Eden and as far north as Cairns. We are in the process of implementing intiatives for supporters not situated locally.

Parra Pete, thanks for your questions, that is one of the main reasons I have come to this forum, and that is to spread the word. I have been talking to the football club over the summer in particular the B&G Army. The B&G Army is a great initiative of the club, however it does not provide it's members an avenue to have their voices heard. The PESC is working in conjunction with the B&G to provide such and opportunity. One great event we hold each year is the Annual Christmas Dinner. At this event, members, club officials, coaching staff and players from both the NRL and Toyota Cup Squads attend, we present a Player of the year award to the worthy Toyota Cup Team member, and this year they will be joined by the innaugural NRL Player of the year award. Also this year we will be holding a Super Christmas Raffle with many prizes available among them being a 2010 fully signed jersey.

That's the sort of information people on here need to hear..Goals, promotions, awards etc..it makes it more appealing than just saying join up.
How many paid up members currently on the books?

So, this is the long standing supporters club which is run through through the leagues club? The one that organises away buses etc?

Well done for coming on this site and actively seeking new members. I think thats terrific.

You may find though, that there are some, 'interesting' views of that particular supporters club on this forum.

I think the supporters club as a whole has great potential to grow with a bit of give and take....

Parra Pete, unfortunately the current membership base is what I would call embarrassing. There has been little to no visability of this club which is a shame. I have been waiting and biding my time, to be able to get in to the position to promote this club and make it what it should be. I have no preference for who joins, i only ask that they abide by the contitution and the Supporters code of conduct, any member who is found in breach of either would have their membership taken under review. We are the best club, we are the family club.

Fish Eel, Thanks for the heads up, I have been a long time reader of the forum and I'm fully aware of past perceptions and view from members on this forum. I can't do a lot about what has been said in the past, but I can certainly contribute enough in the future to try and change their perceptions, opinions. I'm open to any suggestions or ideas our loyal fans might have and want to share, that is one of the bonuses of our club, your views will be heard and if warranted, I can take it to the club.

Parra fans need to be heard!

After consultation with PESC we are returning this thread back to the Eels forum.

For those who so politely and persistently inquired about where it disappeared to, it was quarantined so that we could establish a relationship and understanding with PESC and lay a few simple ground rules.

Bearing in mind we also do this for the protection of our members to ensure this is not an internet scam.

As you were gentlemen.

you are running the buses to the away games right, will you also be trying to organise designated seating areas like what was organised through some great work of some people here for the bulldogs game or will that fall under the B&G Army/club?

By becoming a member, what benefits do you receive? e.g. voting rights, discounts, merchandise?
Can anybody can utilise the buses without being a member?

Well written buddy, as you said past perceptions are just that... PAST perceptions. If the PESC is going to move forward and become something exciting and worth being a part of, then those PAST perceptions are sure to fall away.

No doubt Fish will keep reminding those of us who were a naysayers of the group before as the weeks roll on.. ;-)

I'm pleased to hear that you guys are opening the group up to make everyone feel welcome, and taking suggestions on board from people who haven't previously been a part of it. Good Luck!

Not at all, the perceptions went both ways but looks like a fresh start for all involved.
