Shame, I may have agreed with you.

What do you expect anyway ? Hi I’m your new chair. Not sure if we’ll be around in 5 years.
I just thought it was total load of spin and BS, saying the coach is safe before the review is done doesn't instil me with a lot of confidence either. Hey hopefully I'm wrong and this bloke knows his shit but saying we might chase a head of football from outside RL sets some alarm bells off if you ask me. Especially when we have a board with little RL experience.

Which bit.

His talk of our junior base and junior pathways is the same waffle that every guy in his position has mentioned before. Same with us becoming a place he wants the best players and staff to come to.We have heard it all time and time again.

Though I get that he is trying to put a positive spin on things

Also concerning was guaranteeing the coach's position before the review is even finished when apparently all aspects of our footballing operations were meant to be under review. Seems it is all aspects bar the head coach.

The meeting with Bernie and BA in September about our recruiting plans seems a bit late for my liking. The team coming last needs a major overhaul, starting with a hooker and if Norman goes we need another significant recruit in the halves. Or it will be bottom 4 again. September is about 3 months too late.

A head of football with no League experience is not bright either.

I’d argue that based on past history, publicly announcing that the coach is safe is usually what happens before the coach is punted.

It’s just media gibber. I wouldn’t read much into it.

It isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that BA is sent packing at the end of the year.

Also, just because others have failed in developing junior pathways and creating ‘a place for the best players to come’ doesnt mean the new guy can’t have this as his aim. He should be judged on what he does or doesn’t deliver.

Agreed, although it would be nice if he provided a bit more detail on how they were going to achieve this.

It’s just a standard PR positive puff piece. Anyone trying to disect it is foolish.

BA is safe, unless a far better long term option becomes available. That is standard for any club when their coach is approaching his last year.

If you insist on taking something out of his presser, he said that he will be reviewing the whole business quarterly. That should put the fear of god in the playing/coaching staff.

The guy has been the Chairman about a week. He gets asked to do an interview in the middle of an internal review that has obviously already identified some areas where changes are needed and he comes out and confirms that:
1. the currently contracted coach for 2019 is not going to be terminated early
2. recruitment for a head of Football is going to start immediately
3. more focus is need on junior pathways to the NRL
4. we need to learn from clubs that are achieving at levels a lot higher than us

Not sure what else anyone expects him to say after 5 days in the role (and keep in mind media spin is a crucial part of his role unless you want more "Eels in Crisis" headlines).
