I feel scared for our club when muppets on Facebook are saying Kenny & Grothe Snr should be on our new board, and the comments are getting multiple likes.

Yep. The members are f**king morons. They should not be trusted to vote in who runs the club

"His letter to members follows a tumultuous day for the club with Mr Grant ALREADY having made the decision to take the extraordinary action of removing the entire Parramatta Leagues club board — possibly as soon as Monday."

Grant announced it on 2GB AROUND MIDDAY. Sharp released the letter later that evening.

Maybe you should check your blinkers....

Wrong Jake, that's when the Eels out out the media release and posted the letter on their website.

I am now confused, is this Poli getting rid of these cocks or is this not happening now, pretty big statement to back away from, or now that sharp is gone Will the rest follow?
Basically are we getting administrators in anytime soon?

It's up to ILGA... the politician said that if he receives advice from ILGA that we need an adminstrator, as the MInister in charge he will act on that advice and sack our board.

Going public like that is putting the pressure on ILGA to make a qick assessment, while also giving notice to the Directors that Their attempts to hold on may be future.

I think the paper talk was originally hoping the ILGA advice would come on Monday?

You do realise that the 144 governance changes are for the PNRL club and not the PLC right?
Yes, but since our PLC Directors are the ones who (acting as PNRL Directors) have needed to enact them, then yes I want to see a PLC Administrator (in place of the PLC/PNRL Directors) make these happen before we open up the PLC/PNRL Board/s for some form of member elections again.
Are you suggesting that opening up the selection of PNRL Directors to 22,000 football supporters will improve the quality of directors or will we likely just get more popular ex-footy players?
Opening up the selection of some of the PNRL Directors to the members allows for some member accountability of those directors representing members in the new governance structure of the footy operations. It won't improve the quality, which is why I hope the new governance structure will only ever allow for a minority of the PNRL Board (say two Directors) to be directly elected by footy members - the remaining Directors comprising (say three) indepdent (merit/NRL) appointments, and some mechanism for a small PLC representative (say two) crossover.
Do you think the Shareholders should have a say or just the customers?
Both, to varying degress, with influence filtered by independent or NRL appointments.

What I have proposed is:
4 cross over from PLC (represents the shareholders and accountable for the $)
1 electable by general members (ex-footy/popularity vote)
1 nominated by Junior Clubs (annually changed and gives the grass roots a say on the Board)
3 independent/appointments (meets the needs of the NRL and lets us introduce quality as needed)

So similar to what you have suggested and leaves only 1 ex-footy player/fan favourite on the PNRL Board.

Sounds good. I'd reduce the PLC crossover by 1 and replace it with another independent/appointment of some type, just so that there is no way that factions can game the PLC election and the election of the one member spot to gain a majority.

I can see why on principel people would want more than half of the positions elected by members in some way.... But unless the member electable positions number less than a majority, then I don't think Fitzy and Spags (and other factions seeking power) will disappear in the way the Club needs them too.

I think they should have an ex-footy player there in an honorary capacity, just to give the media someone to go to when they need an idiotic quote. It could be a 12 month gig, rotating between Price, Kenny, Leabeater, et al.

They could even call it that position "honorary previous premiership winner representative" on the Board, drawing only from those bitter 1986 ex-players and only to be updated whenever eventually win another comp?

I think Hindy has been practising for that role too.

I was going to nominate Hindy. Though I don't know if he could afford time away from rubbishing the club and playing the straight man on the Matty Johns Show.

Concerns over money wasted if administrator takes over Eels

One of the groups attempting to gain control of Parramatta has raised concerns over the money and time that could be frittered away if an administrator were at the helm of the club for an extended period.

The Eels could be in the hands of an administrator as soon as this week, with NSW Deputy Premier Troy Grant waiting on a recommendation from the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority on the best way forward.

If an administrator were appointed to take control of the leagues club, there would be significant ramifications for the football club given they share the same board.

Lawyer Brendon Noney is also concerned over the financial impact of placing the club in the hands of an administrator.

“I would like to be able to work with the administrator to bring about an election as early as possible so the members get a say,” Noney said. “I understand why the legislation is there. But a club is about the members. How long will it be before the members get a say in how the club is run?

“I can’t see this process costing anywhere less than $1 million, maybe more. Depending how long they’re going to be there, it’s going to cost a fortune.

“That’s members’ money at the end of the day. That’s why I think it has to be short and sharp.”

Noney revealed he had held talks with Chris Losco, who has led the charge for reform by fronting another group, as they look to form a united front on the way forward.

“To them, it’s them helping the club as opposed to being on a power trip or ego trip.”
“What I would like to see is for us to work with the administrators to hold elections sooner rather than later ... to lead the club out of the quagmire it finds itself in,” Noney said.

“Part of the problem we have had to date is the guys who have been on the board, their day job hasn’t been as important to them as their roles as directors. Those guys have had a desire to interfere with operational issues.

“On the flip side of that, when you have guys who have careers and roles in business that are more important than their roles as directors, I think you find you get people who want to make a contribution.

“To them, it’s them helping the club as opposed to being on a power trip or ego trip.”

So the media were championing the sacking of the Board, Saturday they get what they want with the Minister being invited to take over and now they are giving airtime to factions scaremongering ?

Tabakoff .....

But The Daily Telegraph understands that of the four remaining board members — deputy chairman Tom Issa, Tanya Gadiel, Paul Garrard and Andrew Cordwell — at least two are vehemently opposed to the board’s sacking.

A letter is understood to have been sent on Saturday to Premier Mike Baird, strongly protesting the move on the basis of a lack of “due process”.

One dissenting director, who did not wish to be named, said yesterday Mr Grant’s immediate move could halt the club’s plans to appeal the NRL’s sanctions against the Eels, which include 12 competition points and a $1 million fine.

Why wouldn't it? ... It gives them something to write about, you can't seriously for 1 moment believe that the maggots in the media have the clubs best interest at heart do you?
