Parramatta Leagues Club board sacked, administrator appointed

Months ago when i became aware of the split in the Board I started campaigning for changes to the PLC Constitution that would ideally remove the tickets we see at elections and would ideally get rid of board factionalism on both the PLC and PNRL boards. I was totally against this being done by anyone other than the PLC members as this was not only our club but also our mess and i believe(d) that the membership deserved the chance to get it right.

Unfortunately with the actions of Paul Garrard, Tania Gadiel and Andrew Cordwell, supposedly supported by Tom Issa in doing whatever they needed to do to get the petitions for change stopped and rejected they took that chance away from the members.

Sharp, G Gerard and Serrao recognised that the only way to remove the insidious political influence that they allowed naively to enter the club and then through the overall incompetence of the whole Board, to gain control of the club was to demand the State Government step in and appoint an administrator after removing the Board.

This in my opinion is the best thing that could have occurred following yesterday's rejection of the EGM petitions. Not what i wanted a few months ago when the salary cap dramas started raising their head but what we needed at 5pm Friday 15th June 2016.

Lets hope now that we get the right administrator with the right mindset to listen to the members wishes for change via a consultative process and we grow bigger and better for the pain we have endured.

Ultimately, that's what I would reckon EVERY member wants.
I would hope that given the chance, that's what will happen.
But given the amount of "f**k" knuckles that follow this club, I wouldn't be surprised if this opportunity is once again destroyed.
At this moment, I feel sorry for the Losco proposal.
It was clear that this was the only genuine proposal that meant well for the better of the club, and which wasn't alliance based.
I'm also not convinced that the reasons given for the rejection of all three challengers were legit considering what has progressed during the past 24 hrs through legal channels and media releases.
The club is a shambles and an embarrassment. No surprise there.
The people that have been involved in the politics and running the club and challenging those within, should be ashamed of themselves.
On the record...............

Sharpe and co. can f**k off.
Fitzy and co. can f**k off.
Spagnolo and co. can f**k off.
Any other group trying to get numbers together to take control can f**k OFF too!!!! That includes other websites.

We need a truly independent board.

Unless Fitzy is the Independent Administrator appointed by the State Government . . .
Surely not. Even politicians and/or their advisers can't be that stupid...

All good, but I'm at the stage where I don't really care if the administrator listens to members in a consultative process... I just want the 144 governance changes to finally happen, and it's easier if one person (administrator) gets on with it.

After all, our broader membership are the ones who fell for the trojan horse campaign to elect footy players and then allow 3P to get their hands on the club, and the ones who blindly elected Sharp and his disunited crew once they woke up to what Spags was doing to the club. Our broader membership doesn't deserve consultation about how to make these changes, becaause it would risk letting the factions get involved and impair the final desired result.

So long as the result allows (footy club/STH) members to elect Directors to a Board (that controls our NRL operations), and that future Director terms are staggered, and elections mean that an overall majority on that Board is never up for grabs at a sngle election, then we will finally have our faction-reduced stability that we as members have sought for almost a decade.

Kudos for Sharpy for finally doing the right thing, he's put the club first and has given us a fighting chance of getting the board this club deserves.

You do realise that the 144 governance changes are for the PNRL club and not the PLC right?

Are you suggesting that opening up the selection of PNRL Directors to 22,000 football supporters will improve the quality of directors or will we likely just get more popular ex-footy players?

Do you think the Shareholders should have a say or just the customers?

gutsy call from Sharpe and a good move, its not something Fitzy would have ever considered as he would always put his ego first and the club last

now we can move on

I'm guessing it's unlikely the government would appoint an individual as administrator, it will likely be professional firm. That is how things are done, individuals pose too much downside risk.

There is no chance former board members or office holders will be appointed.

Firms are appoint in insolvency matters, but the NSW Gov headhunted individuals recently for the Council amalgamations.

The administrators – mainly former public servants, council managers and a couple of mayors and former Coalition MPs – will have the power of mayors and councillors but will be prevented from changing development plans until elections are held in September next year.

Here you go. Ramsgate RSL have had administrators appointed because of shenanigans. A consultancy firm was appointed.

Leagues Club Director Geoff Gerard said he fully supported Mr Sharp's request of the Deputy Premier, stating: "it is the right outcome for the club and its members".

"This year has been the most tumultuous in our history but we now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to undertake constitutional reform that is vital to end the cycle of factionalism that has devastated our club," Mr Gerard said.

lol gutsy. How the f**k was that gutsy. Love how he sent out that letter after the government announced that they were going to sack the board.

Gutsy? he should've quit 2 months ago when he was exposed.

Good riddance to the turd that wrecked the club. Gutsy LOL.

Troy Grant has got NFI. All he can do is refer it to the ILGA/OLGR board and see what happens. So he's fully premature ejaculated on this and is waiting on legal advice to see if he can actually pull the trigger.

Kent wants someone to go to jail. Anyone will do.
