To be honest, there aren't many Parra players i would want on current form. Those ones selected are picked on potential. Love the look of the bench. Lots of impact.

As seen with the other mergers in the past the salary cap is relaxed for merged teams for a few years until current players come off contract.

Im not advocating the merger at all though.

But my feeling is one day it could happen.

I cannot remeber what happened after the tigers/wests & Illawarra/St George mergers but I thought that when teams merged the salary cap was relaxed & contracts were honored for the first few years.

I cannot remeber what happened after the tigers/wests & Illawarra/St George mergers but I thought that when teams merged the salary cap was relaxed & contracts were honored for the first few years.

For StGI and Wests.

Manly and Norths merged after the criteria and there was a sh*tfight about dispensations, because alot of clubs were afraid of what the two clubs could have composed under a relaxed salary cap. In the end The Neagles were under the same cap as everyone. I'm not sure whether it's good or bad but if they'd got the same deal as the other two JV's they'd very likely still be around. Nothing like a bit of success to get everyone playing happy families.

Another interesting aside: Had Norths not gone skint, it would have been the Panthers getting the punt (They finished 14th) and this side would likely have formed.

Nah, I don't rate him to be honest. Won't win a comp. Wade Graham could.

Given how much ability there is in the backrow with Pritchard/Hindmarsh etc, you can afford to put Mateo into 5/8 alongside a great talent like Graham.
