Parra, just like anywhere else in any major aussie CBD is changing at a rate that many of us can't keep up with. I will always love the place, but more so these days from a distance. The surrounding suburbs will be next............

Below is a render of the tower (the building on the left) proposed to be built over the top of Westfield Parramatta.
Application has finally been lodged.
The tower to the right is the currently under construction Aspire Tower in Parramatta Town Square. Aspire will however look a little different to this.

that would be a logistical nightmare

do you know if they are intending to allow the centre to be open during construction ?

Certainly looks different to what I witnessed as a young bloke on the bus heading to Marist Brothers cruising past Ron Hogdson Motors, Fair Deal Holden and learning to swim at Parramatta Pool when not doing sport in the Cumberland Oval Car Park.

I'll be there next year to check out the new stadium, I wouldn't mind just walking up Church St to see what it looks like now.

I used to walk from Marist Bros to the station every day and there was not a high rise to be seen. I went to Parra Marist before they moved to Westmead.

f**k me we had a good footy team at Parra Marist back then

Logistically, I thought the same thing. I've no doubt that a fair proportion of the center would be closed off during construction. In reality, how else could they build a 200 meter tower on top of a shopping center, without strengthening what is beneath?

Super ANZAC day has to be around the corner.

4 games at the new Parra Stadium. Vets get in for free. 2-up at half time. Bruce Ruxton waving to the crowd from the back of a WW2 tank that does laps in between games. Bucketloads of piss.

You know it makes sense.
I dont understand why Vetinary Doctors get in for free .... make the rich f**kers pay ffs

Mate, it's changing...…..and quickly. It will soon become the Parramatta I didn't know as a kid.
For example - the old David Jones site is now a 176 meter tower. I remember that building as a kid. I used to catch a bus into Parramatta to go to a record store just up the road in Church street to buy recently released singles and pick up the 2SM Top 40 Hits chart, which was printed weekly.

Parramatta is changing. But it is changing for the better I believe. It's becoming a city. It is getting past it's old shit-house feral, awful appearance, and becoming a modern city...………...and about f**king time too.

I get vertical living and love Manhattan in New York.

Not sure that glass tower Parramatta offers the same buzz.

YESS!!! That place was f**king awesome
Only I don't think that the merkins of the parra region had much cash. IIRC the cars consisted of the drive-train with a home made shirt box plastic body.

Or these if you were from Kingsdene and loaded.
