New Sydney Fish Markets are coming along nicely.....
With the new markets being located on the southern end of Blackwattle Bay, what becomes with the old location ?

Also, what becomes of the old Fish Markets light rail stop, with Wentworth Park being closer to the new digs ?

A bit of value capture for the Govt. Also returning plenty of harbour foreshore to the public.
However, that hasn't stopped the usual protaginists like Clover and Alex Greenwich and the SMH from blowing gaskets over this.

Yeah Maybe 45 stories as a tad over developed. Looks like they'll get 35 stories anyway.

Interestingly the Balmain foreshore is NOT earmarked for residential. IIRC there is a Sydney Metro Station being built at the bottom of White Bay aka "The Bays Metro Station".

NRL clubs Vs College Footballl..

Yeah, I'm fascinated by College Football and the amount of money involved in what is essentially amateur sport. Some of those college football programs over there are as big as every AFL and NRL team combined. Largest spectator sport in the World. Michigan has the largest football stadium in the World. Up until COVID they had more than 100,000 people at every home game for 45 years!!!

Stadium Australia Homebush's record crowd was 114 714 on night of the Closing ceremony at the 2000 Olympics.

1660805973891.png
From memory, the largest ever AFL crowd was 122 000 at the 1970 MCG Grand Final between Carlton and Collingwood.

1660806099251.png
The largest ever crowd at a stadium sporting event was 198 000 at the Maracana Stadium in Brazil for a World Cup match.

Of course, event's outside stadiums regularly exceed this, like the Tour de France.

I've been to a college football bowl game in Tempe Arizona (Phoenix). The stadiums are actually quite primitive, with most of the seats being bleacher type seating. I had one of the best seats in the house on the half way line in Arizona, the seat was still made of metal and bleacher style. I think most people bring their own cushion.

Phive Parramatta Square opening draws closer
aug 23 tele
The upside down Eels bus is parked in Parramatta Square and nearby, the eye-catching Phive building will transform from a red-sloped
roofed building to a contemporary $130 million facility housing a library, council chambers and performance spaces.

After two years of construction, Phive, also known as 5 Parramatta Square, will open in late September and house the council chambers, a research lab,
discovery and cultural centres, indigenous objects, 24/7 book return facility, digital resources and an extensive book collection over six storeys.

Parramatta Lord Mayor Donna Davis said Phive was the centrepiece of the $2.7 billion Parramatta Square project and was a reflection of the city
being “vibrant, innovative, unique and evolving with a rich past and a promising future”.

“We are so excited that our community, cultural and civic building, Phive, is nearing completion and getting ready to open its doors this spring,’’ she said.

It will also be the epicentre of local politics and where council meetings will get under way from October 24.

The building is also designed with a “smart system”.
“The building’s smart system responds to weather conditions including sun, wind and humidity, filling the building with fresh
and air natural light as needed,’’ Cr Davis said.

Smack bang in the centre of the square’s domain is the Parramatta Eels bus, which almost looks like a slim tower from afar but is an 8m aluminium replica that depicts a chapter of the club’s glory years of the 1980s when players used the bus as a makeshift office.

The Leyland Worldmaster bus, which remains fenced off, was used for team meetings after delirious fans torched the Cumberland Oval
grandstand to celebrate the club’s maiden premiership in 1981.
Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro’s artwork was selected after an international competition in 2020 and Cr Davis is confident it will be embraced.
“All great cities have great buildings and great artworks and this larger-than-life piece will be a landmark for our city,’’ she said.

Walked past the bus on Monday, first I'd heard of / seen / knew about it. It's definitely eye-catching, but I hope they put some interpretive signage up when they remove the fencing.
Despite being aware of Jack's bus down at Granville Park from the glory days, as middle-aged Eels fan I didn't make the connection until reading the link above.

They have turned the first sod on the Atlassian 180m wooden tower this week.

This is the the new tech startup precinct adjacent to and over the airspace above country trains platforms and approaching tracks.

DA has been lodged for Parramatta's tallest building - an office tower named Burramatta Place. 89 George Street.
234 mtrs tall, so 243 mtrs ASL. That is the CASA limit for Parramatta.

Looks like a thin street frontage - I hope that means they're leaving that olden days/historical house (Perth House?) at number 85 in place?

Sadly, there will not be a City Extra as part of the foodie options.

Nice, I like that the little old building gets to stay - and with a "Boost Juice" bar (or similar) nearby to boot!
