Parramatta Stadium Rebuild and other stuff

Thanks for posting that article Gronk.
Do YOU think Parramatta will end up like Docklands?
Have you seen Docklands lately?
It is the perfect example of poor planning and the desire to make developers rich at any cost. That article states it all. It is far removed from what is planned in Parramatta and for you to post that article in comparison is misleading.
Parramatta has commercial, (extra) dining, residential, sports and arts precincts either already in place or planned, as well as improved transport infrastructure.
All the things that Docklands didn't plan for. No wonder it is a steel and glass hellhole, which it is.

Me posting an article about a concrete and glass soulless development precinct is not misleading. You just don't agree with it.

Time will tell that Parra CBD is a living city that punters want be part of. You say it's good planning ? I respect your opinion. Happy to be proven wrong in 2027.

Thanks, Suity. I'll do that. The place is changing at an accelerated rate, that's for sure. I can remember Church St as a two way hoon street the entire length. Mum worked at David Jones on Church St for years and there was also a slot car racing place upstairs opposite there. Played sport on Cumberland Oval as a Macquarie Boys High survivor too. Interested to see how this all plays out, because we don't need a high rise ghetto in the mix, that's for sure.

And that's when Parramatta WAS a ghetto.
This transformation will be anything but that.

And that is bad because?
BTW, the major developer in PTS is Lend Lease, who are also building the stadium.
Did I say it was bad? I was giving reason why Docklands is under utilised and soulless. I don't even know if it is the case, but developers like Dyldam have greater interest in seeing the Parra area do well than an out of town developer. Lend Lease barely help my cause there

Fair enough.

For mine, I reckon when it's all done it will turn out a lot like Sydney. Lots of lifeless streets (and lot less pretty than city) but pockets of great entertainment areas. Actually similar to what it is now but more modern. Not going to happen but if they could move the town square closer to the stadium, that place would be fantastic on game days

There's actually lots of lifeless streets there now. More now than there will be in the future.
The centre of the city is where it happens on game days. It's then a short stroll to the stadium.
No need to dream about a move of the Town Square, which as you say, won't happen anyway.
The Town Square will be the life of the city 365 days of the year, rather than just on match days, so better to have it where it is.

Local boy eh?
Dundas Marist for me, and I also had a game on Cumberland.

Dragged screaming from the NSW far north coast to Rydalmere as a 12yo. Dundas primary then off to that hell hole masquerading as a high school, MBHS. At least the school sporting uniform was blue and gold.

True that.
It was a hell hole though. All the bad kids from our school went off to there. Lot's of Valley boys went there.

I read an article ages back saying that Parramatta was expected to be Australia's 4th largest city and seems to be heading that way.

I read an article ages back saying that Parramatta was expected to be Australia's 4th largest city and seems to be heading that way.

How would you define Parramatta's boundaries so you can do a head count ?

Adelaide's area is 1827km2

So the radius from the centre is 1827/3.14159= 581.5km (diameter)

√ 581.5 = 24.115km radius

Parramatta is approx 25km fro Sydney CBD, 25km to Menai.

Sorry, cant see how Parra can get 4th largest population ever unless it claims most of Sydney Metro as it's own.

Brisbane's metro is 15826m2 or a radius of 70km !

Perhaps they were talking about population densities. If so Parra would need to knock off Perth and Adelaide to achieve that goal.
