Planning approval has been received for a vibrant new transit-orientated precinct in the heart of Parramatta’s city centre that will have fast and reliable metro services at its core.
The new hub will be made up of four state-of-the-art buildings and include around 100 new homes, office spaces, retail and dining options, community areas and car parking.
The development will integrate with the metro station below and provide easy access to alternative transport options, including Parramatta Station, bus services, and light rail stops at Macquarie and Church Streets.
Two consortia have been shortlisted to deliver the Parramatta Integrated Station Development:
• Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd, Billbergia Pty Ltd, Gamuda (Australia) Pty Ltd and MTR Corporation (Australia)
• Lendlease Construction and Lendlease Development
The Integrated Station Development includes design and construction of the future Parramatta metro station, its precinct and the buildings above and adjacent to the station and is expected to be awarded in 2026.
The Concept State Significant Development Application (SSDA) for the over-station and adjacent development at Parramatta was exhibited for public comment. The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure considered all feedback received during its detailed assessment of the proposal.
Further SSDAs will be prepared by the future development partner and will include guidelines to inform the final design, as well as detailed design plans of the buildings. Stakeholders and the community will be invited to have their say during this process.
