I honestly think the spike in membership was a reult of some decent signings, and the news of the development and likely future sustainability of the club. Idk what Pat Woods did that was different to any other year (maybe a bit more of a membership 'countdown' as we got close to the 10k mark). Still, with his credentials it seems a shame he's going, BUT we don't know why he was let go.....

It's always hard to say. But it's the little things that increase membership. Things like getting together a list of every single person who has ever been a member and encouraging them to sign up again, targeted ads in the local paper, setting up membership signups at local events. These get your numbers up, and might cost a bit in the short term, but in the long term it's much easier to get people to renew, than get them interested in the first place. Plus hopefully each year your dealing with a larger and larger base to begin with.

No doubting the membership marketing was way better this year and definitely contributed to the 10k.

Exactly, get the base increased and it is easier to grow from there, keep people renewing, target those who have left and find out why try to get them back.

And work the local market, see what people are wanting and keep recruiting

Gets the 10,000 Member target that even the most fluffy of fans thought was too ambitious - and we sack him?!

Club is constantly trying to destroy itself. Pull the plug now!

The Leader's Brad Forrest has a different take on things, today.
That Woods found the ongoing ASADA drama, too much, and that Cullen and Noyce were the ones who secured the new outside sponsors.
Regardless the whole thing muddying the waters IMO , for the club and the new admin,is the ongoing ASADA drama.

It's pretty damn hard to get wholesale positive vibes when this crap swirls around.

All I can say thank the whatsis Noyce and Cullen are involved. They are experienced club admins, who have let the boys do the talking on the field, whilst they try to fend of the crap off it.

I can see positives the team doing better than I expected, the CC club getting a decent club house set up at Wanda,Stadium named, tell the negative vibes to get stuffed.;-)

That's all bullshyte taipan. Forrest is a board lackey.

I just want the truth ,the whole truth and nothing but the truth.I am fed up to the eyeballs with political intrigue.
I get enough of that crap from our egomaniac politicians.

If Woods was turfed ,can someone spell out why,as he got us 10,000 members.Something or someone made the brown stuff hit the fan.
From the outside Woods,Cullen and Noyce are all plusses for the club

The short story is he was sacked because he wouldn't terminate AVS and re instate E Group. E Group has ties to Unity.

It does appear its jobs for the boys in action once again. Pat was gutted to be "forced" to "resign" from his job at the sharks & was very proud of his acheivements whilst at the club in trying circumstances. He has already been sounded out by 2 sporting franchises and will bounce back.

Oh FFS, that blows. Thumbs down to the Board. :thumbd:

What a shame to lose such a quality guy. The c*ckheads that put the pressure on him should be driven out of the club. Those type of people are a cancer we don't need. ](*,)

No doubt Woods will go on to bigger and better things. Thanks for your efforts Pat. Great job on getting the 10,000 members!
Egg will be on the face of the Board if they can't at least duplicate (they should better it) his efforts next year!!!

The hard work is getting to that number, maintaining it should be shit easy in comparison.

We are gunna end up like the Eels.

There are enough links to the Eels to suggest that might be true.

Woods replacement, Steve McGee, is a chronic overspender and the Eels would of paid the cab fare to get him over here.

Why would The Board tell Woods they were going in another direction and part pay him out after what he has achieved?
