Def true except bit about Angus Crichton. He technically was not an East junior, played 2 maybe 3 games of SG Ball until Scots college found out and that was it.

Yep this is what people don't understand about how hard it is to play league in Sydney's East if you go to a private school. I went to a private school known well for its rugby team and a group of about 10 of us wanted to play league for Bondi Utd because we preferred it over yawnion. We played about 2 games before we got found out and all of us were threatened with expulsion if we ever did it again.

These yawnion types are very petty and despise league and all the private schools it play it. This is why we must cherish all the kids who play league in the area, not lock them out. The area really can't afford to lose more juniors as rugby is very dominant in the East.

Tunks and his Sth Eastern mob have been raping and pillaging Easts Junior clubs and South junior clubs for years.

I also find it interesting that you brain dead half witted pillow biting vermin fans do not realise Souths is the only Rugby League club that is funded by a Junior League club, everywhere else the Senior club supports the junior club, what a bunch of bell ends.

Souff Sydney Football club actually have no junior league of their own, it is only by affiliation and because 40 odd foot of faeces and his board mates require a handout.

Disgraceful taking money away from junior football

The good news is that its getting better. The Roosters are working with the private schools in small steps to work together

This is why when souths spruik the profits their football club makes you take it with a grain of salt. They outlay zero to their juniors, unlike the other 15 clubs.

Souths Juniors spend millions on junior development, Roosters spend nothing. Then Roosters come and wave money in front of the select players with potential after they are brought up through the Souths system. Why should Souths be okay with that?

Essentially Roosters are taking advantage of a comfortable situation where they don't have to spend any money and know they can pluck players in the local vicinity that have been developed by another club.

This is nothing new, Roosters have a bad reputation for it.

Maybe they can actually put some effort into junior development within their boundaries instead of letting AFL, union and soccer to take over the Eastern Suburbs. Then they would have a fair claim to be part of the junior to NYC development conversation.
Your ignorance is nothing short of staggering.

Can you quote me a club who takes money out of their FC operation ie directs their NRL grant to run their junior district clubs

Rather than a wealthy LC funding junior league as a community tax write off

I just think Souths are so petty. For a club that is supposed to be assisting kids play footy, and allowing those kids to play locally without having there parents run a gauntlet all around Sydney just so the clubs have someone to play against, this decision stinks.

TBf you could argue that any NRL club that takes money from a LC is taking it out of the pockets of grass roots RL. Parra leagues club could be spending that $5mill a year going to NRL Eels on jnr development for instance.

if the Raiders are really spending that much of their own generated football revenue on jnr football wtf is the multi millions from the LC going to?

On a serious note, the junior competitions run along the boundaries of the NRL/NSWRL club are outdated and in some cases stopping kids from playing footy which is what everyone should be trying to encourage

The NSWRL should redo the comps on modern geographical basis rather than based on clubs.

The NRL/NSWRL/leagues clubs can then fund the clubs in their area if they still chose to

Bazza that model is definitely happening at the U13s and up.

But don't discount how much the kids (esp the younger ones) love playing for a junior club that is affiliated to an NRL club

Truth teller.

Here comes Souffs' brains trust.

No he is not correct at all. The Roosters spend plenty, something which the SSDRLFC aka Blackcourt League Investments, do not. Souffs are the ones who spend absolutely nothing on juniors.

As KBW said you absolutely have to have the NRL teams to play for.
I can only imagine it would be a fully intoxicating thought to be chasing an Eels jersey (for example) as a 15 year old kid. Amongst other things you would be thinking about where that is going to leave you with the girls. So I don't think we should abandon it entirely.
But we should reduce the season, basically cut it in half. I think the talented kids are playing too much rugby league anyway.
