Wow... as many others have said, far too young.

Would be terrible on the family so hoping they've got support around them.

Just, f**k. Makes me want to go hug my kids because you don't realise how fleeting this life really is.

How deeply sad. Of course people say nice things after someone has passed but he is one of those rare blokes who nobody had a bad word to say about him even before this. Not many people spend 30 years in this game with so few detractors. Besides Souths winning, I don't think I have had a happier grand final memory than watching his Cowboys beat the Broncos in 2015 in one of the all time great deciders. RIP.

What a sh*t week it has been 😢.
Paul Green was well loved and respected at all the clubs he was part of . He played most of 2001 season at the Roosters and got a State Of Origin recall that year also, unfortunately he injured himself in the opening game of 2002 and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

RIP Paul, 49 is way to young.

RIP Paul, one of the games' absolute good guys.

Reading through the comments here reflects how much he's loved, how much he brought to the game, and how much he still had to offer - sadly, not to be :(

The rugby league community is in mourning following the sudden death of Paul Green in Brisbane, aged 49.

“Today we are devastated,” Green’s family said in a statement.

“We have lost a devoted husband, loving father and wonderful brother and son. We cannot find the words that would come close to expressing our feelings, however we would like to extend our thanks to those who have reached out to us with their love and support.

“Paul was loved by so many and we know that this news will generate immense interest, however at this time we ask for privacy.

“Our family is still trying to understand this tragedy and we request space and time as we come to terms with this loss. Thank you.”

It has been confirmed he took his own life.
