No one seems to see the sarcasm in this bit of the article which sets the tone for the rest. Did you even read it? He's just saying that there has been a witch hunt for Stuart whereas worse offenders in the press at present have been portrayed as "flawed heroes" due to having some excuse.

No it's not okay, but Kent is making a far-fetched correlation to the Cronulla coach and the Cronulla player. By the way I for one do not see Ben Cousins or Greg Bird as "flawed heroes" (still haven't made my mind up on Symonds), they're just idiots who have done the wrong thing in the public sphere.

I didn't read any sarcasm, it was just an ill-fated attempt to cast Stuart in the better light, to put his actions into some kind of weird context that another's actions somewhat makes his a lot more forgivable. With Kent's logic Greg Bird should glass more women and get inebriated so that Stuart's actions will seem to be more mundane and he can just get a slap on the wrist for calling a referee a merkin and a f**king cheat.
