A lesson for all NRL Clubs:
Just as a good school student does not always make a good school teacher
A good NRL player does not always make a good NRL coach

And you could also add that just because a player is a one club player and is some kind of legend at that club, this doesn't mean that self- interest isn't going to guide his decision when to stand down from a subsequent coaching position.

Is there any chance that Mary will resign at the end of this game regardless of the result?
I saw he has a spot on NRL 360 directly after this match, thought maybe he'd been given the tap on the shoulder.
Wishful thinking.

Here's hoping.

Surely he's got one more loss in him?

Oftentimes that is the case, of all the top coaches barring Stuart none of them were brilliant, they are mostly toilers. Naturally gifted players probably don't know how to squeeze every last ounce of talent and desire out of someone like a toiler who has done it the hard way themselves. Imagine getting coached by Andrew Johns trying to explain how to set up plays, he probably sees things 3 steps ahead naturally. Someone like Cronk would make a good coach I reckon though. He was never physically imposing or have supernatural vision, he just perfected his skillset and methodically worked teams over with high percentage plays. What I wouldn't give for a player like that at our club right now.
