Graham for 40min a game (first 20, back 20) would be great. How Mary uses him is the issue.

You’re a bit obsessed with Roberts. He’s a dud deal. DWZ is a great player but wants to play FB and can’t pass, so is a younger Dugan. Oates is a quick second rower and effectively what we have in Pereira.

Robson is gone, and is more a hooker than lock, although moulding him like Radley (if it can be done, that is, which means with our staff - no chance) could work.

Lawrie is an outright prop, so Vaughn, Graham to start, Sims and Lawrie to sub in. Bring Vaughn in for Lawrie at 50m.

Lock should be Frizz; Host should be right side lock - he can at least run through a hole, which Frizz seems unwilling, unable or unsure how to do.

Re backs; Field as FB, Pearson, Pereira, Marsters and Lomax are what we should be running with, with an eye for a quicker winger for next year.

The common denominator is Mary as coach so this is all a useless discussion as he will f**k it up in a heartbeat.
Roberts is SOO standard. I do accept your point about DWZ so I'll go for:
  1. DWZ
  2. Saab
  3. Lomax
  4. Roberts
  5. Oates
  6. Norman
  7. Hunt
  8. Timm
  9. McInnes
  10. Vaughan
  11. T Sims
  12. Frizell
  13. Robson
  14. K Sims
  15. Kerr
  16. Lawrie
  17. Leilua
We could win the competition with a team like this. With Gould, a good coaching and recruitment staff, we could really have this team for 2020.

Firstly, there's no way we could afford to buy DWZ, Oates and Roberts in one hit. You're dreaming if you even think thats a possibility.

Secondly, blooding Saab, moving Timm to starting, playing Robson out of position and having Kerr, Lawrie and Leilua all on the bench is a recipe for disaster. Our bench rotation is front row heavy, our back row sports one player capable of hole running and we have no coverage for injury in the backs (i.e. a Host-like player). It lacks leader too.

Try:

1. Field
2. Pereira (with Saab groomed)
3. Lomax
4. Lafai
5. Pearson
6. Norman
7. Hunt
8. Graham
9. McInnes
10. Vaughn
11. Host
12. Sims
13. Frizzell

14. Robson
15. Leilua
16. Sims
17. Lawrie

20 - Graham off, Sims on
25 - Vaughn off, Lawrie on / McInnes off, Robson on
30 - Frizzell off, Leilua on
55 - Lawrie off, Vaughn on / Leilua off, Frizz on
65 - Sims off, Graham on / Robson off, McInnes on

We do need to make changes at SGI and James is no longer worth 600k on our cap. We have a couple of young props coming through but they are not of SOO standard so rotation through the bench is probably what we would do with them - Timm and Kerr. So that leaves Lawrie off the bench and Vaughan and a bookend in the run on 13.

Internally we have the option of using K Sims or Leilua in that slot. T Sims, Frizell and Robson in the backrow. So our forward stocks look good even with Graham out of the squad. What we really need is a good game plan, good combinations and some creative play within our forwards. That probably means a new coaching staff.

I say throw Graham's 600k and De Belin's 550k together with whatever salary cap we have left at some quality backs; Roberts, DWZ and Oates.
You can also add Widdop's salary minus what extra we have to pay Norman out of next year's cap. We should be offloading Aitken, Lafai, Dufty and Pereira. That is probably 2.2 mil worth of cap space we could create and add Graham's 600 and we are up to 2.8 mil, minus what extra we have to pay Norman. I have heard it is either 200K extra for Norman or it could be as much as 350K.

I would play Lomax at fullback and DWZ centre. Lomax looks to have more of a complete game than DWZ.

@Frank Facer - Haas too young to be picked at Origin, got shown what happens when you play with the big boys. Which is why you don’t pay a kid that kind of money this young.

Got stepped by Tyrone Roberts today and had an average game.

Kid has talent and natural assets you can’t train. But has a long way to go.

Reminds me of Tony Williams - big and lanky and thats about it!! Not really impressed with Mr Haas especially not for origin and I think RCG should be re-instated. Also, James Maloney to be picked to replace Walker.

Cheers

It would be honest to say that many on here would say Haas is too young to be select in first grade at SGI.

It would be great if we could sign him but I'm sure it will be Broncos or Souths who eventually get him.
