Over the years I've been watching the great game I've come to realise that some players are rocks or diamonds while others are just consistent performers. The difference is those rocks and diamonds step up a level i.e. Bird in the 2016 GF. It's fair to say he has had plenty of shitty games but that was one hell of a game when it counted. Blokes like Pearce though play at a consistent level in club land and most weeks will feature. But, they don't have that extra pezazz that enables them to step up beyond that so they appear to go missing in the big games. He'd bring that week in week out performance id say which will compliment those R and D players that we've acquired. I don't mind if we snare him.

Wouldn't you demote Townsend and leave Moylan at 5/8?

I would - offload Chad and have Pearce and Moylan in the halves, would be a great combination IMO.

That then leaves Val at FB and keeps him happy. We can not risk losing Val!!

He’s a flat track bully.
He’s hopeless when the defense is good, finals, origin.

Flanno wants to recreate what Barba provided with Moylan. Val will ultimately end up at fullback but the team is so much more potent with a ball playing fullback.

I do like a halves combo of Moy and Pearce but it won't be happening next year. We have no real back up halves as is.

Think people are creating more of an issue of this than it actually is, Val will be paid spine money to ply his trade on the wing. Less pressure....less responsibility all in a position that he excels at. Faarrkk I wish my boss would pay me double the coin to the same job i've always done for the next two years.

Who the phuque cares what the prima donna does? He’s just another part of the whole and can play wherever the phuque he is told or needed.

He’ll never be a top line ball playing fb because it’s not an inate quality he has. He’s a first class winger and a cargo bay fullback.
