Makes plenty of sense to me.

Holmes is a proven amazing winger, proven average fullback. Dugan has played many years at the back. He's no Barba but he's definitely better than Holmes.

Nah, he's really not. If you want a ball playing fullback it doesn't get much worse than Dugan. At least Val has upside there.

Holmes is great on the wing, we all know that. But at fullback he really lacks. On top of not being able to ball play he is also a pretty average defender and on many times showed zero urgency at the back which resulted in tries to the other team.

And Dugan is great in the centres. As I said, Val is young, has played one season at the back. There is far more upside in him at the back than Dugan.

Crichton would be for 2019 when Gal and Lewy are gone. Signing Pearce probably wouldn't have impacted that too much.
