The Panthers have to shed players for multiple reasons.
1. Potentially 7 new rep players
2. Players value increase when winning a premiership (not to mention making the ressies GF)
3. Next year they have $100,000 shed from their salary cap, and the year after they have to be $150,000 under the cap due to a superanuation scheme which they tied to implement and was against the rules in 2002.
And in response to the comment some one made about "why do we sign reserve graders when we have plenty of good lower grade players?" Well obviously we don't have enough good ressies players or we would have won the reserve grade premiership - and thats the only way to measure success isnt it?
