Penrith lower grade signing?

Parra's last two supposed "offers" were to backs (Blacklock, Amos Roberts). So wouldn't be surprised if they are still looking to add a little depth out there, rather than forwards?

A young versatile Cougars back perhaps? Just for depth's sake.

From what I have heard he is still under contract for 2004 however as Waterhouse, Galuvao and Clinton may well be seeking upgrades now they have represented their country - in particular Galuvao who is seeking a new six figure extension - they may have to shed some lower grade players.

Not 100% sure but apparently we have signed someone according to 2KY and Frank was the last guy that was talking to someone so that is the extent of what I know.

Would be fantastic news for Parra if we did sign him!!.....im pretty confident that we have got him.

The Panthers have to shed players for multiple reasons.

1. Potentially 7 new rep players
2. Players value increase when winning a premiership (not to mention making the ressies GF)

3. Next year they have $100,000 shed from their salary cap, and the year after they have to be $150,000 under the cap due to a superanuation scheme which they tied to implement and was against the rules in 2002.

And in response to the comment some one made about "why do we sign reserve graders when we have plenty of good lower grade players?" Well obviously we don't have enough good ressies players or we would have won the reserve grade premiership - and thats the only way to measure success isnt it?

What about the Roosters. They got done for Wings contract.
Did their Salary cap get reduced. I don't think so.
They didn't lose any players that they wanted to keep

It amazes me that everytime we lose a "reserve grader" people whinge non-stop about how that player was going to be the next big thing eg. S.Witt, but when we sign one from another club it is a waste of money. Surely our lower graders/young talent isn't that much better than everyone else's and considering the way they limped out of finals I would conclude that Pritchard has a lot more heart than most of the girls that played in Prems the last 4 weeks!!!

I suppose loyalty is the answer to that one Duxxy boy.
But it amazes me as well that people start bagging players who haven't even pulled on a blue and gold jersey yet.
At least give them a chance.............and then bag 'em!!

LOL.... thats it suity.

What else is amusing is that people can bag a bloke like pritchard "why are we signing another reserve grader!" etc..., then it will turn out he isnt coming to parra, he will have an awesome season where ever he goes, and the same people will say "Why didnt we sign him! Someone has to go for not signing him!"
