Leniu with 43 mins, 12 runs, 132m, 62 pcm, 17 tackles and no errors. Lot of punch not shown in those stats as well. Awesome to see the guy can deliver real good numbers if given the opportunity. Can definitely be the best prop in the game in a few years.

Re: spencer.

Im a huge fan like most.

But its one thing posting big numbers in a huge win, 40 to zip basically win...

He needs to post big numbers or show hes endurance in a tight battle..

He hasnt had the chance ill admit but its cause he lacks the conditioning atm.

Not suprised. As i said last week refer to leota 5 years ago. Poor fitness

Take from it what you want but theres ZERO doubt leniu is still learning the game.

Hes learning the importance of fitness, middle ruck defence, not blowing out to early...

For me today was great for eiso, kenny.. those two for benchies were so good.

Said it for a while on here and to family... tago will be the best centre in the game in 18 months. He will overtake critta soon.

Cleary was good but i still think hes kicking game can improve..

Would love to see him go to the line more or kick early more. Dont get me wrong.. he was ok. But i know he can be better.

Atm it really looks robotic..get to a position on the field for him to do a long bomb with no pressure on him..

Thats not meant to be critical... i believe nath can be one of the best ever...but he has a few strings in the bow hes not pulling yet imo

Overall today everyone was brilliant..

Agree with most of this with the exception of Tago. Over the last 3 years we have had three rookies start on the left hand side; Critter and Burton both won centre of the year and both looked much better. I think that Tago has looked elusive with ball in hand, but his handling has been iffy at best and he makes a lot of poor decisions. I see him as a solid first grader as his ceiling. I hope I am wrong and he becomes a superstar.

Tago is the best of the three coming out of our end though.

Makes an easy ten metres and fights for every yard once he makes contact.

The current back five is massive and allows the forwards to bludge on multiple tackles.

Hes worth a million atm
If you looked at his play over the past 10 weeks you could make an argument for it.
But this has been his best 10 match stretch by a long way; you generally get someone who is in and out of the game.

So if he can do it over a season then maybe you would offer him $1m for the next season. Then you need to factor in he wants a longer contract. I believe that we will see waning athleticism over the years; he is a big man who depends on athleticism. That is generally not a combination that screams longevity.

So he is playing amazingly at the moment and you would definitely have him in your team. But do you pay for what he is producing now or what you have seen over time? And how do you protect your cap over the medium term if he wants a longer contract.

I think weighing all of this up the club has got to the right choice. Not saying that losing a player of his ability isn’t going to hurt or impact the ball way we play, but it is a decision that shows the brain trust has faith in the system and isn’t going to gamble it all.

Youre wrong.

Thats not meant to be rude but you are..

Ive seen him do things with ball in hand that critta or burton cant do..

And all the pre season jibes by some were hed struggle defensivley......

Well hes already a lot lot better than burto was statistically in d. And 7% better than critta this year..

I never ever doubted him.

He has better tackle breaking skills, better speed of the mark and is just strong, a good runner and defender.

He is the real deal.. half a dozen drop balls means shit all. Hes learning quick..

We have the next mj imo.

Get excited.

Great game by everyone tonight including the coach, good use of the interchange kept us ticking along well.
I am glad we kept our foot on the gas for the second half, was close to perfect.

Agree, although think Critter also does that very well(just not as good as Tago). But if you have a FB and wingers who are very good at that aspect, is a must-have or a nice-to-have that your centres are good at it too?

We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

As an aside, I agree with his defending has been better than I anticipated. My comment about decision making was actually with ball in hand.

I have always been a bit negative on Edwards’s ability to chime into the attack, but he has really stepped up this season. His improvement has really opened up the attack on the right hand side.

Good to see Ciraldo give Spencer time to show his wares this week. Got to ask would Ivan have shown any faith or just give him ten minutes and hook him again?
