Penrith Without Cleary

True but his speed is what's a liability as he can't move laterally as quick. Especially with the new rules.

He made 35 tackles again on the weekend. Ave 36 as a half

Moses had 20 attempts in total. No idea why he is making more than other halves.

Clearly the plan involves a 7 that can make 30 tackles a game and grind out some ugly wins

Every move we make should be designed to beat Melbourne in the GF. That is our goal and anything short of that is failure.

Lets use Falls as an example

Could of played v WT, Sharks, This week, next 2-3 games.

That gives him 5 or 6. Then if Cleary misses the start of next season Falls knows how FG works..
Maybe if it was known that Cleary and Luai would both suffer injuries that would have been a viable option. It wasn't until the first Origin side was named that we knew Luai was out and even then it was only thought we'd need to cover 2 games.

The idea that we can have two ready made halves of first grade quality hanging around our salary cap just waiting to play 2 or 3 games a year and not leaving to play regular first grade at another club is a bit naive, to be honest. You make do with what you have, even if what you have has shortcomings. You try to overcome them as best you can and support them, which is not exactly what is happening here.

Realistically we are zero chance of that with both Luai/Cleary out anyway.

One out with Burton we are fine but 2 out no chance

It was a chance though. Like end of last year was a chance we would need another centre Whare and Burton both should of been match fit just incase

Completely agree. It doesn't mean there aren't better options like developing the reserve grade half into a semi competent fill in.

This is an awful thing to say but an injury to May would be great right now
Yes. Not a serious one obviously. But a minor one as Luai has picked up to force Ivans hand while Luai is out would be good.

Just watch though. Api will go down injured in Origin and our next game will be without our entire spine. Dream injury run right through the season until the competition truly begins.

Whilst I an glad for Api that he got selected for Origin 3, from a Panthers perspective I wish he had been left as 18th man considering we already have 3 of starting spine out injured.

I am pumped for Api but feel like the footy gods are shitting on us right now and just know something about Origin 3 will hurt us for this year premiership.

The worst part is that the confidence our boys will have after Origin would have gone a long way toward us being able to beat Storm in the finals. Cleary and Luai dominated in a big game. Bringing club form to the big stage... and moreso it was against the likes of Welch, Munster, Kaufusi and Grant who will line up against them in the grand final. Just felt like this years Origin series was the boost we needed in succeeding in a big game.

Luai and Cleary will return, but with Cleary at less than 100% it will offset what was gained from Origin IMO. Especially with him no guarantee to be able to make it through the games we need him to for the grand final. His injury could end his season at any moment.

I agree, but for next season though. And this is already underway with Panthers upgrading Falls to a development contract for the remainder of this season, and a top 30 contract for next season so that they have the offseason to work on his short comings.

Considering they have enough salary cap pressure already trying to fit in the state of origin bonuses for 7 players, they probably couldn't of afforded to pick Falls to replace Cleary even if they wanted to.
