I actually thought the Panthers were gonna take it after 55 odd minutes there when they got that try to bring it back to 18-10. Then Nightingale made that fantastic kick return where he trampled over Walsh and Penrith barely saw the ball again. Pritchard and Coote looked like making breaks every time they got the ball and Pritchard just about did.

Gee I would like to have Coote at the Tigers. He runs at the line like Hunt does except he's faster.

Wow. Because tonight was an indication of what they are capable of. Nevermind the fact they were missing Petero Civoniceva, Michael Jennings, Trent Waterhouse, Luke Lewis, Michael Gordon and Brad Tighe.

I would love to see any team in the NRL put in a performance like we did with the lack of experience we had. Our side was already young and inexperienced after having lost more then a thousand games of experience since last season. Take out our most experienced players for this season, and ofcourse we're going to struggle.

1. petero is a machine
2. lewis is the classiest player the side
3. House carries the side in attack and defence
4. Jennings creats things out of nothing.
5. Gordon is once of our most reliable backs.
6. Sammut is hot and very cold.

Graham and Walsh are both very very inexperienced halves.

I will cop the loss on the chin. Saints are the real deal this year under Bennett. They will be top 4 and will give it a real shake.

Penrith are building to becoming an excellent team.

I am happy with Paulo over the last two weeks and McKendry came on in short bursts and was quite agressive in his time on the field. They can only improve going foward.

Yes both teams had players out, but Penrith were without their three main leaders - Petro, Civinociva and Waterhouse. Dragons still had Young, Hornby, Big Dell etc.

Anyway, it was a shame it was such a big blow out. I was hoping that a 12-6 half time, with Dragons having (from memory) 57% of the ball, that it would even out. But Dragons did well to keep posession in the last half too.

Dragons are definately a good team though, and will be there at the business end of the season.

Yes, the Panthers do seem to be building, the next few years should be exciting for them. One game wont break them...its a learning curve for the young players.
Saints will get beat again this year, and the same idiots with nfi will come out saying the same about them thats said here now

Dragons were missing their fullback (Boyd), left centre (cooper), starting props (Weyman/Poore), starting 2nd row (Prior/Creagh) and starting lock (Jeremy Smith)

Penrith wont win the comp this year, that's obvious, but they are building a competitive team for the next few years.

Thorby - would have played last night given the players out.

We had our entire starting pack out with the exception of Young, and for our young blokes to step up and play the way they did was sensational.
Dan Hunt played over 70 minutes last night at prop.....massive effort for a kid with just over 50 1st grade games.

I don't mind Penrith, but being honest, they don't have the depth yet, if they had a couple of long term serious injuries they would struggle big time, as shown last night with a few players out.

People keep talking about the young Panthers.

What people aren't realising is, we had 8 regulars out + Thorby.
We had half a side that had to come up to 1st grade and try and gel with the 1st grade boys in a week.

The majority of the Penrith side have all played together, and know each others games.
The same can not be said for Saints.

The fact that we played with so much cohesion and put on 38 points is a great sign for us Dragons fans.

Merrin on debut
Paea over 5 years only has 25 games under his belt.

Thats 4 of our guys with little to no experience as well, half of our side were ring-ins. Then you look at someone like Stanley who has only played 3 games this year, Soward, Hunt and Morris who have just secured their spots this year. The difference was you missed Civoniceva badly, and any strike power out wide.

In any case it was a good performance from both sides, fatigue just set in for the last 20.

No one is denying that the Dragons were far from full strength. The point is that they still had a far more experienced side then the Panthers last night. Our team was young, inexeperienced, and our backline was way too tiny to match it with the Dragons backs last night. What chance did Coote have up against Big Dell?

Our 1/6/7/9 are all players who have only just forced their way into our starting line-up this season. Meanwhile the Dragons had more experience in Luke Priddis alone then we did in half our team.

Panthers have had a young side all season, but have gotten by on the back of experience and skill of the likes of Petero, Jennings, Lewis, Waterhouse and Gordon. You remove those blokes from our team, and all we have left is a young and inexperienced side. We were already scraping the barrell to fill our team with experienced firstgraders.
