It's hard to chose a best pop song ever. Probably something from Michael Jackson. I'd say,

"Thriller"

Even Bono admitted it isn't the perfect pop song - no hook, no chorus. Obviously popular though.

 I saw it so differently.

I thought the hook was the chorus!

Bono, for the genius he is sometimes doesn't have much of a clue about his own music

There is so many motown songs that could be considered perfect. Theyr'e from another era, but the motown songwriters and motown band are hard to touch.

Im a music snob, so pop music usually disgusts me. But the pop album that stands out to me the most in recent years was coldplay's parachutes. Sparks is an all time fav of mine.

Billie Jean will always hold its own in any era.

You guys will frown, but in a pop sense, some of Justin Timberlake's work is close to perfect. He's so far ahead of the publics pre-conceived boyband image. The Neptunes pretty much made him. Pharrell and Chads work on his Justified album produced some pretty wicked pop tracks. Senorita, Rock your Body, I'm lovin it.

Another modern day song, that is close to perfect in a production sense, was snoop doggs, 'drop it like it's hot'. Another neptunes stroke of genius. Perfect.

Jackson 5 imo (although they were sorta the death of Motown...bad timing maybe)
