Mal job is more ambassador than Coach, and given his status in the game, the right call.

Brad Arthur has zero profile in non RL states.

Things have really gone downhill for the AFL since Gil resigned two years ago. Plenty of articles like this at the moment.

Pretty good article considering it was written by a fumbler

25k members is a low ball estimate too

There is still a lot of arrogance amongst the fumblers in their own heartland … they can’t contemplate having a competitor as they really haven’t had one previously …where as Rugby League has always had other sports try to take them on…

When we will get logos and jerseys?
Anyone's guess - we don't even have a website yet.

Could be a case where they're just waiting for the NRL season to play-out first, and use the "clear air" then to launch the logo, website & merchandise just in time for the Christmas market.

Depends if they want the club to be formed and making these decisions, or NRLHQ to be making them. There's no rush, as long as we have a brand and merch and a foundation membership by Christmas, so I'd rather the club made the decision. They are the ones who have to grow it and sell it.

This is a good point. We are battle hardened to it. They have been living in a gated community for 100 years and now the barbarians are knocking the gate down

Nothing personal but I don't like the Bears already.

I'm a Tigers fan and it's so hard trying to sign someone of quality, considering the Perth side is coming in 2027.

You'd think good, established players off contract soon, will hang out to see what's on offer.

I don't want him to leave the Raiders after we just got him back, but Mal is a great choice tbh. His profile completely dwarfs Arthurs and he will get the people under him he needs. TBH Arthurs stupid for rejecting the assistant position. He could have basically been the coach, with Mal as figure head/man manager, for a few years and then stepped into the head role. Now he's fighting for head positions at Damocles clubs.

The NRL are also closing in on Mal Meninga as their inaugural coach. There are few bigger names in Australian coaching than Meninga who, with all due respect, is a much bigger national brand than either Eagles coach Andrew McQualter or Justin Longmuir, of the Dockers. The NRL are also closing in on Mal Meninga as their inaugural coach. From a fumbler and says it all. They aren't winning the comp in their first few years, its about getting eyes on the team.

Well yeah, that's North Sydney's current NSW Cup jersey & logo, but you know.. a butcher-stripe jersey for the Perth Bears might actually be a good one to base the team's look around.

It has a good old-school vibe to it which fits, plus no other NRL team uses it for their main/home jersey.

Sure others use butcher stripes for heritage kits now and then - most notably Bulldogs and Dragons, but it's a style that's not been used for a main jersey since the early 1990s Gold Coast Seagulls.

Not one mention in that article of the root causes of their woes....the product is rubbish, fumbles-w highlights everything that is wrong with that past-time.
