Josh Massoud reporting that Panthers have lodged the biggest offer - $1.3 million over 3 years plus a car & his new club could be known today.

so around 433k a season... i think thats a bargain to be honest.
the dragons club doctor needs to get in the ear of Farrell and get him to make a call on retirement ASAP in order to free up funds for an offer...

Happy to miss out on Hiku if we could nail Roberts . With Farrel's retirement we should be able put a better offer to him than the rest .

Except now the donkies are after him now too. Supposedly shedding maranta and Copley to make room in their "cap".

The thing is, and it would be the same problem souffs are having, to shed players is one thing, but the other is to get a team to pay as much of their contract as possible to give them the salary cap space to sign the player and then they have to replace that player in their top 25 on at least Min wage. At this stage of the off season most teams caps would be near full.

Frankly, if all the teams that do not get the leg up with tpas banded together and just low balled these teams bending the rules, the nrl would have no choice but to block the deals as they have done with others.

agree 100%
and this is the reason the Farrell retirement plays such a key part. no salary cap implications if a guy retires, so in theory places us in a prime position with 260k becoming autmatically available....
Farrell needs to call it out ASAP

I feel this is where Roberts will play in 2016 and beyond. Creeping will make it work, he always does.

I'm still clinging on to the hope Roberts may wear the Red V, however, I feel uncle Wayne will get the job done.

It's becoming farcical. The salary cap obviously doesn't apply to Brisbane, Bullgrubs or Sydney Roosters.

I am seriously finding it hard to believe that the Panthers have supposedly come in with the biggest offer for Hiku when they already have a strong 1 through 5 and significant depth. Idris must have been on a hell of a lot of coin?

1. Moylan
2. Mansour
3. Whare
4. Jennings
5. Watene-Zelezniak

+ Robert Jennings, Waqa Blake and Isaah Yeo.

Oh I agree 100% and luckily his market value seems to be pretty open to the public meaning Broncs won't get the chance to sign him on "unders". However I hold feint hope he may end up with us if Farrell makes a call quickly. Hopefully his uncle can get in his ear haha

Panther's were the most profitable nrl team this season. Do you really think Gus wouldn't be all over how to use that to his advantage in the same ways the bronco's, rooster's etc. Do?

I think you're giving Gus a bit too much credit there. Like OV and Grouch he's very good at complaining about things, but doesn't have too many ideas on how to actually make things better.

Well, if they signed hiku, isn't that one idea to make them better and supposedly sneak one under the guard of both us and Parramatta?

OR Manly!!!!!!!!!

Manly have lost a number of big name players over the past 2 years. Ditto for Souffs. Broncos picked up without any other club contributing anything to their salaries, Boyd and Milford, are still paying a large % of Barba's contract and let go of a coupe of fringe first graders to accommodate them. Roosters picked up Blake Fergusen without any other club contributing any of his "minimal salary". Bullgrubs had a GF losing team and have added Brett Morris and Hopoate to it while letting go of that superstar Tim Lafai....

Panthers will get Hiku and this is no great loss to the Dragons.I do not consider him anything special and obviously Manly agree with this assessment.A solid First Grader but not what we are looking for.

For what it's worth, I just heard that James Roberts was spotted at St George Leagues Club.
