No great loss people.

We have several Full Back and Centre options better than Hiku.

For instance:

Full Back

Dugan/Widdop/Mann

Centre: Aitken, Matautia, Dugan, Widdop, Milne

Hiku is a better fullback option than Widdop and Mann, and probably fits the balance of the team better than Dugan. As a centre, he'd be above all bar Dugan.

Penrith Panthers are delighted to announce the signing of outside back Peta Hiku until the end of the 2018 season.

The arrival of the New Zealand international on a three-year deal adds both strength and experience to the Panthers backline ahead of the club’s historic 50th season in 2016.

"The Panthers are delighted to secure the services of such a well-credentialed representative class player as Peta Hiku," Panthers Executive General Manger Rugby League Phil Gould AM said.

"We are indeed fortunate that Peta became available at this stage of the year. He will perfectly complement the emerging young players we have here at Panthers.

"The fact that Peta, at a young age, has forced his way into that tremendous Manly backline and has performed so well on the international stage for the Kiwis is indicative of his tremendous ability.

Hiku? Not all that upset, really I just wanted us to win a 'signing war'. Remember guys Hiku was told he could leave. Manly don't usually let future champions go.

I'm not losing any sleep about not getting Hiku.

As far as I can see he's a big strong hard running centre or fullback, and we already have one of those in Duges.
Sure he scored a lot of trys a couple of years ago out on the wing of a pretty hot Manly backline.

This season he played 22 games and only scored 8 trys.

Is he a game breaker, i don't think so. Is he a creative football player, I don't think so. Is he super quick, I don't think so. So I don't think we have missed out on that much.

Now about James Roberts, that's another story.
