For those of you unsure as to who Peter Frilingos actually was, let me fill you in.
Frilingos was the pre-eminent sports writer in Sydney. He had been the Daily Telegraph's Chief Rugby League writer for 15 years. He had been involved in Sports Journalism for 40 years and covered every Grand Final dating back to 1964.
His opinions carried a lot of sway at Phillip Street and continued to do so at the game's new headquarters at Fox Studios. His writing usually inspired passionate debate.
He was Ray Hadley's right-hand man on the Continuous Call team for 18 years and for the last 6 or 7 years was a regular on Fox Sports' "The Back Page".
It would be fair to say that he was not liked by a lot of Rugby League supporters - however this was not as a man but as a journalist. His name could get hairs bristling up on the backs of people's necks due to his support of Super League, however that, like Chippy is in the past now.
It is a shame to see him go so suddenly.
Cheers.
