Bit of a cherrry pick as afl new tv deal had kicked in and nrls hadnt till following year.

reality is vlandys hasnt closed the gap and it isnt closing, in fact is set to get bigger over next 5 years Unless nrl pulls some pretty amazing rabbits out of the hat.

AFL Revenue 2022 - 870m NRL Revenue 2022 - 593m Revenue Gap 2022 - 277m Total Gap since 2012 - 2.54b Furthest apart the two codes have been since 2017, furthest apart in a year without starting a new broadcast deal, second furthest apart theyve been since the ARLC was formed.

NRL/PVL=Bad…hopeless management.
AFl/Gil= wonderful ..best sports admins in the world.

Rinse
repeat
Rinse
repeat.

2012 NRL revenue 181m

Page 89

2012 AFL revenue 471m

More than double the NRL in 2012.

2023 NRL predicted revenue 660m + NRL revenue from 3 hotels.
2023 AFL predicted revenue without Gov grant 870m which includes Marvel

Only blind Freddy can tell me the trend in central revenue is not in the NRL's favor.

Just curious, why did you pick 2012? Were you aware it wasn't a true representation, or did you just not know the circumstances?

@Perth Red nrl distribution way up

tells the same story as with the broncos 80
Percent profit increase

an nrl license is a license to print money

The $15m increase in other grants seems to have helped far more than the NRL distribution.

You might want to look at page 51 to see that the NRL distribution is not the massive increase in grants.

The reality of the revenue gap pre and post Vlandys

Pre Vlandys
2017 -$352.6mill (AFL new tv deal)
2018 -$255mill (NRL new tv deal)
2019 -$238mill

Post Vlandys as chair
2020 -$255.2mill
2021 -$163.1mill (covid)
2022 -$276.9mill

2023 will see NRL new tv deal kick in and AFL 2 year extension tv deal kick in, and NRL new investment revenue, included, so will be interesting to see what changes there were last year in the gap.

lol you really need to get your facts straight! 2022 didn’t include the new afl tv deal and the revenue quoted did not include the marvel Stadium grant, if it did it would be $944.3mill.
Why continue to compare NRL v AFL ? If you're going to continue to compare apples with oranges why not compare our deal with cricket ? It's as relevant as comparing our deal with AFL.

AFL will always have a bigger deal, thier sport is a better vehicle for commercials....it's that simple.

We have Origin and Tests though, they don't.

Cricket has a few opportunities for ad breaks.

Top two sports in the countries. I guess if you're ok with being second then its irrelevant.

right, so our game isn't worth as much no matter how many people are watching

Per minute NRL smashes any sport in the country but if we are comparing the 2

AFL 9 games x 120 mins a round
NRL 8 games x 80 mins

AFL has 4 mins break 1 qtr and 3rd Qtr. 10 min break 1/2 time
NRL has 10 mins 1/2 time

During play AFL has 30 secs after each goal - roughly 20 a game

NRL - has 30 secs after a try - say 6 a game

NRL probably needs to double the ratings to be as valuable

2023 the tv deal gap will be worth around $50-70mill cash, what about the other $180-200mill difference? FTA Tv (where advertising space is relevant), is only one source of revenue for the codes.

Our next tv deal will beat the afl tv deal

afl is a distant second on tv. Foxtel could lose the afl rights and it would have little impact

Depends if pistol Pete is negotiating or not.

I have tried to explain this to you many times but Gill's dick has fried your brain.

The NRL's next TV deal takes in 4 years of this deal you are comparing too, It seems like more due to being 9 years in advance
