Last year close to 5m over the cap was given Directly to NRL clubs.

85m a year.

So 2023 76.5m + a potential 85m

How much money over cap does the AFL give to clubs?
lol, NRL clubs are spending hardly anything on grassroots RL outside their elite pathway programs, some LC's in Sydney subsidies rego fees. Thats about it!

$85mill, you're having a laugh.

The AFL cap is around $13.5m. AFL distribution is variable. The strong clubs (about half the league) get less than that but the other half get up to double that (Suns, GWS, St Kilda). All up also around $80m - $90m above the cap.

Pete "the Man" V'Landys is the No 1 sports administrator on this planet.

Rugby League and the NSWRC are so lucky to have him.

Pete has cornered the USA gambling market by playing games in Vegas, Pete has destroyed fumble balls hold on Victoria and run rings around the VRC when it comes to self-promotion and racing. NSW is clearly No 1 now, if only we could stop the torrential rain when we run our so called "The Championships".

I remember when Pete "The Man" Vlandys used to run the trots.

Even then it was the best night out and Pete "The Man" made himself available to every Tom Dick and Harry and made it an intimate and cosy setting for $10 punters to lose their rent money and shuffle off into the night to go back to their otherwise meaningless lives.

Pete "The Man" is A No 1 when it comes to promoting the shite out of events.

He could sell ice to the Eskimos.

Trendsetter!

The AFL is run on the centralised Communist model of the strong giving to the weak with all control given to the centralised Elites who influence the evenness of the competition based on whatever whim they have at the time.

The AFL board make all the decisions on behalf of the Clubs.

Basically, in the AFL, the strong clubs – Essendon, Richmond, Collingwood, and Carlton keep all the other Clubs afloat.

The AFL takes the money from these strong Clubs and gives it to all its other “special projects” like GWS and Gold Coast and basket cases like North Melbourne.

If a big Club does something wrong i.e. drug or salary cap cheating, they are shunned to the bottom for 10 years with draft and fixture penalties.

Watch Out!!

The problem is when the small guy falls off his double boxes.

Then you have OH and S issues.

Then you give the smallest guy a golden chair which doesn’t sit well with the next smallest guy who also wants a golden chair which doesn’t sit well with the next smallest guy who also wants a golden chair and so up the line and so up the line until you are billions in debt for all the golden chairs.

Yet still people aren't happy and want newer, sleeker, more modern, even better golden chairs.

Infinite Wants, Finite Resources.

Bankrupt systems.

That is where governments in the world are at today.

Then they have to unleash inflation which makes matters only worser.

We are going backwards as a society because of this so-called equity not forwards.

And that is because of the clubs charter

Which is to develop RL within their district

You will find regional Leagues Clubs or local Leagues Clubs like Wyong have a similar charter

Undoing all of this is not the right answer either

Its how you manage outside of these existing pathway structures that will be the right answer

The facilities fund looked like a step in the right direction. But we have heard nothing on anything being delivered

The AFL give extra to the clubs loosing truck loads of cash.

That is not the same as the NRL.

NRL gives clubs close to 5m each over the cap weather you make money or not.

So the Broncos who make 3.5m a year are still given 5m over cap unlike Collingwood who are given a lesser distribution (12.2m distro) and that money goes to clubs like GWS (27.4m distro) and GCS (27.2m distro).

They are not the same.

Nice try though.

Example.

GWS 28m Grant in 2022 and in 2023 GWS posted a 2.75m loss.
GCS 27m Grant in 2022 and in 2023 posted a loss of 1.7m.

Looks like the Grant for GWS and Suns will have to increase to cover the losses.

That is not over the cap money that is head office paying down red ink.

Hopefully that clears this up for you Jamberoo.

Lmao those clubs get the highest distributions in the league and still losing millions pa

the difference between gws and the suns at 28 million and west coast at ten million grant is stark

the afl is taxing clubs with actual fans to prop up the failing ones

the existence of the lions will mean the losses of the lions and suns will just keep growing

In the NRL the rich clubs get richer every time that over the cap money increases.

In the AFL (Ned Kelly) the rich clubs have to give away riches to fund the poor.

Should not be surprised that socialist Vic came up with this method. hahaha

That's why the scum down south will always remain at the bottom of the pile. Unless they can use their parasitic powers and suck some money out of some poor sap host.
