Giving nine the ability to sell the streaming rights to those games plus the Saturday game back to Fox was a genius move by smith

Axing Monday night football and exclusive super Saturday wasn’t so good for the pay tv negotiation which makes up 80 percent of the deal

Axing Monday night football was more due to:

1. Ensuring clubs have a minimum of a 5 day turn around between games, thus enabling proper player recovery;
2. Clubs taking revenue hits due to the miserable crowd attendances.

Monday night football for the NRL is, I suspect, consigned to the dustbin of history.

And was substituted with Friday 6 pm which is as bad or worse. Fox ended up winning as it allowed them to destroy nines Friday night game

Clubs and players will agree to any changes if the dollars are right

So NRLW will have their own magic round in Newcastle on Saurday August 2 and Sunday August 3. In fairness to the ladies, that should be a standalone event with no NRL on that weekend. Maybe have NRLW magic round, the same week leading into an Origin game.

The girls already have their own standalone origin. They should also have their own grand final day.

The more rugby league events, the more chance of new or upgraded stadiums across Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle, Wollongong and Auckland.

cant believe there are PVL fans

sucking him off while he rifles through your wallet
lol wtf are you talking about?

.

They were never going to have a rectangular field for the Olympics. Get over it. The best you could get was a replica toilet bowl. The fact they made it an oval is more for cricket than the afl.

And suncorp is already/still world class allegedly, according to the premier. So that's that.

Stop crying.

Oh shut up and stop repeating yourself.

News flash. No one logs on here for YOUR opinion.

What type of crowd shows up will be very interesting.

Peter V is nothing short of an administrative genius. Talks the talk and walks the walk. All the KPIs are off the chart.Look at the assets the NRL have accumulated. They used to rent out their headquarters. The longer he stays the better is the future of the game.

All he has to do to make the game even more watchable is to give the referees a directive to control every game all season long in the same way that the grand final and SOO games are controlled. Will remove a lot of spectator/viewer frustration. Nit picking penalties and cherry-picking set restarts dictate momentum changes and ultimately affect the results of most games.

Considering the length of the NRL season, adding in its finals and then end of year international games, I don't think they can logistically give the NRLW Magic Round a standalone with no NRL games ;played that weekend. Just not enough time to fit everything in.

Agree.
Re your second paragraph, supporters just want each team/game refereed the same (notwithstanding there will always be some differences). Whether it is real or imagined, some players/teams appear favoured over others and is a real negative when your team is on the wrong end of decisions.

If you let teams get away with stuff like they do in origin the NRL coaches will be up until 3am every morning working out ways they can cheat and it will become about who cheats the most / best. Look at what the coaches have done to the game over 20 years. It would just be an abomination.

Is the Super Bowl refereed any differently to regular season NFL games? Are the NBA finals refereed any differently to regular season games? Of course not. Then why is the NRL grand final refereed differently to regular season NRL games?

One of the better matches I saw last year was the Warriors v Dolphins which went almost 30 mins without a penalty or a set restart. It was a great arm wrestle with fatigue coming into play as the ball was in play for so long. Then the referee intervened with a penalty followed by 2 set restarts and one team scored. The delicately balanced contest was ruined and I just turned it off.

Viewers and spectators don’t want Rugby League to descend into the over-officiated cluster#uck that is Rugby Union. As far as Rugby League officiating is concerned, less is more. A whole lot more.

I watch a lot of nfl games and the officiating is abominable. There are so many different ways they can steer the game to go. There's always a bad call or spot of the ball that completely changes the game. It's sickening.

I choose to believe they are buffoons. It's better that way. Every fan of every sport in the world hate the refs. They can't all be throwing games. The most obvious answer is the games are too fast for them to see what happened half the time. We see everything on replay, they see everything in real time.

NFL officiating is so bad that even their commentators were talking about the blatant favouritism. I don't think that warrimoo has ever watched a NFL game based on his comments.
