Given how focused the AFL has been about expansion into NSW and QLD and the cost of it etc their clubs are definitely a disappointment and they've had to really calm down the aggression. I would say that Kevin Sheedy did more damage to AFL in Sydney than is given credit for. He was an epic arrogant twit and turned a huge percentage of Sydney sports fans into AFL haters including me.

They point to Lions membership numbers but the memberships are handed out in cereal boxes. People who buy tickets to Lions games at the Gabba on Ticketmaster get counted as members.
