Bwhahaha seriously if you took PVL cock out your mouth for 5 minutes you might actually see that these “secret plans” are just copying the AFL blueprint. He even praises the AFL in the article. The bloke just goes with the wind.

Beta PVL - “One of the reasons the AFL do so well is they have 18 teams and they have more product to sell in terms of TV rights than we do”.

Perth Red or I or any other poster says this and all you Beta PVL lovers have a tantrum like a toddler.

Haha he’s trying to justify Alpha Gil putting $500m gap on the codes purely based on 18 teams haha it’s actually cause AFL knew what they were doing at the negotiation table.

Your own lord and saviour Beta PVL is clearly looking at AFL and thinking let’s steal what they do. Which is actually the smartest thing he could ever do.

I guarantee Federal government woke up this morning and went “wtf, so we are bank rolling a pasifika team in Carins now are we??”.

By releasing this publicly, as Beta PVL loves to do with out any agreement in writting from government, all he’s done is gift the AFL leverage to say to Albo “if you bankroll Pasifika, then you gotta give us $300m for Hobart stadium”.

ALP need to retain Victorian seats at next election, they won’t wanna be seen as favouring NRL over AFL in Victoria. So congratulations to Tasmania, NRL and PVL just gifted you a new stadium and the 19th club in AFL. Bravo PVL you kicking goals for the AFL now.

It’s great the NRL are finally putting expansion on the agenda properly. And its great PVL seems to actually understand that revenue is about tv rights. More teams equals more games, more games in locations with big populations (i.e. Perth and Adelaide) means more TV money. He finally gets it. Oh wait he doesn’t… cause he wants to go to Cairns (150,000 population).

Can’t get that $500m discount he gave nine and fox sports back though. Wouldn’t that war chest been great to re-invest in new clubs and grow grass roots to feed the new clubs over the next 15 years…

PVL and uncle Nick talk about being the no.1 code in Australia and getting the most from TV rights. Yet they don’t really seem to take into account AFL will also have 20 teams (Hobart and likely 3rd Perth team) by 2033 (the current tv deal expires by 2032).

What NRL really need to do, is plan to have more teams than AFL if they want more tv rights. Announce a plan for 22 clubs. So that means Adelaide, NZ2, a proper Brisbane2, Cairns/pasifika, Perth all rolled out over the 15 years. The quicker NRL get to 22, then they start out flanking AFL and can beat their cheat saying “we got the biggest tv deal in Australia”.

It’s clear from the article that Beta PVL now realises how far behind they are from the AFL. Funny too, how his said sweet f**k all negative about AFL since Alpha Gil put $500m gap between the codes.

Now if PVL put 5 clubs in 15 years on the table, I’d actually praise him. 3 new clubs (Brisbane2, Perth and Pasifika/Cairns) isn’t going to overtake AFL like the DT article suggests is one of the key motivations.

The announcement today is just “meh, whateves…” A team in Cairns that flies around the pacific every 2nd home game, perhaps plays 2 games at Nth Sydney if they merge with the bears and cannibalises Cowboys territory. So this Cairns team might get 4-6 home games a year. Oh and it has to receive ongoing federal government funding to work and there’s no written agreement in place from said government…Rightio. Sounds like a master plan. What could possibly go wrong.

Wasn’t one of the key reasons Redcliffe got a licence was cause Beta PVL didn’t want to cannabilise broncos territory? Does News Ltd not own shares in the cowboys no more or something??

Let me get this right, far north and north qld regions have about 500-600k population with limited corporate dollars. Townsville has population of 178k while Cairns has 150k.
Yet you wanna put a two clubs in these area of Queensland?

But you don’t wanna put two clubs in Brisbane (Redcliffe is not within 30km of Brisbane CBD or where the population is south of the river) with a population of 2.4m and they actually have corporate dollars?? Apparently two Brisbane clubs would just cannabilise the broncos but two North Queensland teams won’t cannabilise the Cowboys haha you can’t make this shit up really. The lack of logic and consistency to any decision the NRL make and always compromised by what News Ltd want is just ridiculous.

What a puff piece from DT about nothing. PVL also says they need to do research on it and it won’t go ahead if the numbers don’t add up. Its hilarious how much they shoot from the hip. Just “hey we’ve done no research yet or bothered to even get a consultant to looking into it and deliver a report - but a Cairns team in the pacific is our next expansion team … oh and the Bears are a chance to come back too”…

It’s almost like the AFL season starts this week and NRL are attempting to distract people from that… Oh wait that’s what this is all about… right. Such bold strategy from NRL HQ. They really are such brilliant minds…

Now you beta PVL lovers may love a hollow announcement more than anyone I’ve come across, but I’ll tell ya an announcement we actually need is that the CBA gets signed off asap. But the Neanderthals on here seem to think a Cairns team bankrolled by the federal government in 2032 will fix all ills.

And last but not least, be nice if Nth Sydney didn’t attach themselves to every expansion club suggested. And I love how these interstate locations are just meant to take on the Bears demands - colours, branding and 2 games at north Sydney a year.

Seriously, a club that couldn’t even survive in a city that loves League is trying to dictate terms to interstate locations haha.

If WA government or any other location took the bears demands on they got rocks in their head. Why would any interstate location want to have a ball and chain like the bears attached to them is beyond all logic. But these nothing puff stories helps sell DT papers in Sydney I guess, so well done PVL in helping your mates out again.

Super Rugby play it's side out of Mt Smart. That would be my preference

NZ based team. Odd game in the islands and PNG. Cairns is mentioned and could work but would need a larger ground
Cairns is the base, the training and home facility, it doesn't have to hold games, but it will maybe 3-4, i heard of a stadium getting built for the 2032 Olympics

I think V’landys announcements are timely given the Olympics. League wants it’s share.

Depends who it is, If it is the Bears then you have 2 in Sydney
You'd think they'd go one in NZ
PNG
Fiji
Magic Round

Then year it does limit the games actually in Cairns

If PVL doesn’t personally apologise to every Canberra Raiders fan for the grand larceny perpetrated in Redcliffe last night, I don’t want to hear another f**king word he has to say.

Disgraceful, incompetent motherf**ker.

20 team comp afl can’t touch it
Huh? What world you live in? AFL plan is for continual growth. They’ve gone from 12 to 14, 15 and 16 and for the last decade 18. Their media rights deal finishes in 2032.

They will have Tasmania as 19th within 5 years. Do you seriously think they are planning to stop at 19 and have teams on a bye every week? Of course not. They only plan on a 19th team so a 20th team can come in and help grow TV rights deals.

A third perth side has been in their sights for ages. AFL have been planning this for years. Quite methodical the way they do it. And they want 10 games a week from 2032 for the next TV deal. Which means 20 teams by 2033.
