Thanks Scoop… it has better brand recognition than rugby league, evident by WA ministers calling it “rugby” in reference to the Bears nrl bid.NRL isnt a sport, its a competition.

It is the only benefit of PNG is to get them decent for Test footy.
Getting more teams up to NZ standard should be the aim. Atleast tests not involving Australia will be close and great games
They will be working on that as a priority no doubt.and isnt driving touch players to follow RL more broadly
Perfect sport for schools: non-contact; highly aerobic; not difficult and easy to master the skills pretty quickly and can play it anywhere, doesn`t take up much room and bloody good fun.Its the vehicle for RL into schools and other nations in Asia.
- Permenant sell-out matches for a low ranking team
- consistent good news stories (probably internationally)
- a lock on the national consciousness as the country develops economically
- another decent international team
I am also hoping Indonesia jumps in on it and tries to get some PNG away games into Papua /West Papua (im sure the Sydney teams would be happy to sell some of these games)
This quote from @Red&BlackBear sums it up perfectly:None of that helps on the field over say a Bris 3 as far as revenue stands
This quote from @Red&BlackBear sums it up perfectly:
"Whilst the NRL still have, at the very least, half a dozen markets that are essentially untapped.
"As the NRL taps into these markets their market share growth rises and ditto the overall commercial value of the game rises as well.
"Eventually a disparity and gap will start to grow between the codes reach and value"
PNG will be an indispensable part of cementing the perception that our game has reach. It will pay for itself in other ways.

It’s literally branded “NRL Touch Football”
Is it two handed or one for Touch Rugby. They will be working on that as a priority no doubt.
One of the problems is in non-League States it`s hard to align any Touch/Tag competitions with the local NRL franchise when you don`t have one, I think that`s what you have to do, if they don`t follow NRL and only play it socially, to get people to start following a club. Having that emotional investment makes all the difference when following a competition. Hopefully there will be one less state without a team soon..

Anyone thinking PNG is not worth anything has rocks in their brains. It’s like saying India is not valuable due to their economy. India has one of the largest middle classes. PNG will have people with money who will pay and contribute. 10-15million people increases our footprint from 25 to 40 million.
It is still branded as “NRL Touch Football”. It’s on their logo.from memory, it is a partnership rather than NRL owning Touch as a subsidiary
Consistent sell-outs = 25k crowds in png probably brings in more than a 10k crowd in Sydney
(This is assuming tickets are expensive for locals, but the 12 PNG games will be the equivalent to Origin; how often to you pay out $1,000 for a ticket to a game?)
And this isnt considering how demanded corporate boxes will be.
Sponsorships = this jersey could be the most valuable in thr NRL. The team is broadcasting across the Australia, so a clever company will jump on for enormous positive exposure
internationals = all you need to do is look at Origin or Tonga/Samoa to see the potential in Rep football. A strong PNG in a 3-game series against NZ (during origin) would be huge
Expansion = it could be the toe in the door to some Asian countries. Showing that they would be taken seriously and showing RL as a channel for engagement with Aus
The Bali games would be a gas. Nelson might need a special passport.- Permenant sell-out matches for a low ranking team
