The competition will be 18 teams for 1 year only -2027 …. This seems a lot of effort for that
Once it goes to 20 you make it 4x5 conferences (23 games each?). The creation then recreation of the conferences would be intriguing and controversial and there would be dummy spitting. All positive drama for our sport.

I think it is reflected in the smaller crowds than the codes that go for 2.5 to 3 hours get. All the codes that go an extra 30 minutes get way bigger crowds.
Haha wut? Correlation doesn't equal causation bud

Sheffield Shield cricket goes for 4-5 days and about 9 people turn up

It is just speculation on my part but it makes some sense to me. People will drive or get on PT more willingly when the entertainment is slightly longer.

You have to admit it is at least possible.

No, its not. People will go to games of any sport if they are entertained. The length of time really doesn't factor

All due respect but this opinion is total shyte. Displays a lack of understanding of how to think properly.

Bahahahahaha. Yeah, given people stand in parades for hours for the 30 secs they see someone go by they wanted to see. I call bullshit. Plenty of other examples of that sort of situation. People waiting outside a hotel to see a music star or something similar for 5 secs.

And with attention spands shrinkings, it's probably better our game doesn't go any longer.

With the clock stopping for the last 5minutes for each half for a lot of game events, it has extended the length of time the ball is in play and the length of the game. At best you extend that to specific events like goal kicks throughout the match. No need to actually extend the time of each half.

You might be right who knows but the fact you cannot even concede it is a possibility is where anyone can see your stupidity.

You might just want to check the mirror mate. Critical thinking is not one of the skills you possess.

As a core tenant of the game, the game clock time is not going to be increased. The players association would be arcing up so hard. So the only way it happens is artificially like finding different stop clock events like I mentioned, any kick at goal, maybe extending the stop clock events from the last 5mins of a half to the last 10 minutes of a half. Maybe add 1 timeout per team per half (which is the stupidiest idea I've ever had).

It does increase. Its 35 in the lower grades and goes up to 40 in first grade. These "problems" have the simplest solutions but you are a "can't do that" type of human.

The game time in the lower levels was reduced from 40mins as they believed it wasn't healthy for that level. They ain't professional. Same reason that as you go further down the pyrimid the game time reduces further.

As for the I'm a can't do that person. No I'm a realist. The players themselves won't accept that, they will argue that it's too much. The NRL on the other hand will sneak it in like I said via more artifical means. No different to ones they have introduced already to extend the game without extending the game time clock.

They will fall over themselves to agree if it means more money.
Just add interchanges.

They are getting more money anyway. The illusion of playing longer would conjure images of more injuries. Not to mention it would probably slow down the game as players need to ensure they can play this extended length and still be at there best. So a lot more negative plays would come to the fore to ensure players were getting those mini breaks in matches. The amount the players would ask for a change like that would not be music to the NRL's ears. So it's not going to happen.

The fact is PVL has snuck in half a dozen radical rule changes over the last 7 years and the crowds and TV have exploded through the roof. The people want NRL rule improvement.

Which has zero to do with lengthening the time the games played in

Do you even know what youre arguing for or against?

Play NRL Reserve Grade which ends 15 min before kickoff, for fans who want to entertained longer at the venue

Better yet make all eastern stand seating GA in a first come best seat strategy

Not something I’ve ever really considered before, but the logic of more ad-breaks = more money does seem to make sense.

3 periods of 30 mins anyone?
