Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

I wonder if PVL could get Souths out of Stadium Australia and into SFS. I think he could pull strings and get it done - but Politis is probably against it, so he is in PVLs ear - I suspect this.

Why should PVL intervene?

Putting aside club politics, he'd just piss off people in the NSW Government. The current Minister for Sport and the Premier have refused to intervene in the matter in favour of Souths, add in bureaucrats, its just not worth PVL to invest his capital in sorting out a mess Souths made for themselves.

It’s just a negotiation - it wouldn’t necessarily piss anyone off.
Souths should be playing at SFS.

Stephen Kamper is the Sports Minister in NSW. When he knocked back Souths last request, he mentioned the contractual obligations that Accor and Venues NSW have with other companies (e.g. caterers) for the Stadium which would be negatively affected which is why he refused to let them out. Kamper is Minns' closest mate, confidant and supporter in politics in NSW.

As such you would antagonise both if PVL then weighs in trying to get Souths out of its contract for Accor after they definitively said "no" to Souths request late last year.

Personally I would have no problem with Souths at Accor Allianz, but to get them there by breaking its lease agreement with Venues NSW would in my opinion just antagonise the NSW Government. That's why I think PVL would have better things to spend his political capital on.

He could

Or if the souths ceo just didn’t treat the nsw govt like it’s the fault he signed the lease extension and asks nicely

Who gives a shit if it antagonises them? They didn't give a shit when the reneged on the stadium aus redevelopment. Souffs at SFS is better for the game so they should go for it.

Oh yes, antagonise the two people most influential in NSW politics who decide how the Government spends its money, especially in relation to sporting infrastructure. Great idea

Also, Mr Smarty Pants, it wasn't Minns and Kamper who "reneged" on the deal for Accor. It was good old Gladys Berejiklian and her "mate" then Sports Minister Stuart Ayres. I suggest you check your facts before posting malarkey.

What have the replacements done for league? NSW government needs the NRL, not vice versa

So lose money every year. And who is going to replace the hundreds of millions of dollars they are putting in for Centres of Excellence? You did say the NRL doesn't need the govt, so surely the NRL should be funding them themselves?
Would they lose money moving the gf? I'm not convinced from your single line argument. The centres of excellence are in areas that love league. They build them to gain votes. Again, the NSW government needs the NRL instead of vice versa. It's not even a big ask to let souffs play at SFS.

Firstly, Suncorp is 2/3rds of the size, so can they sell tickets at a 50% higher price given they are already stupidly expensive and there is a limit to what people pay? And if QLD know they have no competition, are they going to spend much money to get it?

So the NRL could build all those centres of excellence without any govt support? Where is the hundreds of millions of dollars of funding going to come from?

Brah were getting sidetracked. My original point was, the game should use some of its influence to get souffs to SFS.

Never considered a roof necessary on a stadium, however having just been to Allegiant I can see the advantages! Other thing that really noted was the quality and amount of food and drink outlets, no queuing at all! In fact staff walking in stands selling beer and snacks!

Having now enjoyed proper drinks at the RL in UK and USA recently why is it only Australia feels that adults can only handle mid strength at sports events???

I’m sure you are aware by now of the woke service of alcohol restrictions in this country?

have someone bring you a beer whilst you are in your seat watching the game ? No ..you might be drunk already and cause trouble… best you get in a line and miss half the game .. the idea is to make it harder for you to drink.., not easier

the atmosphere from your blokes in Vegas would have been like a funeral im tipping… absolute slaughter
Fremont st went off. MGM before game went off. During the game? Yeh not a lot to shout about!

Im serious though, get an aussie in a bar and a few beers in and they are the life of the party, put them in a sports stadium and they become librarians! Maybe full strength beer is the answer to Vlads call for NRL fans to lift their game?
