I have set up a petition to axe the proposed the New South Wales Poker Machine Tax, which may threaten the viability of 7 New South Wales and is the reason why the salary cap can't be increased.

Here's a link:

http://www.petitiononline.com/57987/petition.html

I will take the petition to New South Wales Government House in May when I go there on a school excursion and give a hard copy to my local MP, David Campbell to forward to Michael Egan. Alternatively if I see Michael Egan I will hand it too him and give him a mouth full of what I think of the tax.

IT AFFECTS THE PANTHERS BECAUSE THE SALARY CAP MAY NOT BE LIFTED IF THE POKIE TAX GOES AHEAD AND PENRITH LEAGUES WILL MORE THAN LIKELY NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE THE CURRENT AMOUNTS OF FUNDING THAT IT CURRENTLY GIVES TO THE PANTHERS.

I have already sent letters to both my state and federal MP's about this,
but I am also quite happy to sign any petition going around to try to have
this ridiculous rise in the tax scrapped.

Done.

The financial foundation of premiers Penrith will begin to crumble in the next 12 months, according to Panthers Leagues club supremo Roger Cowan.

Cowan has forecast a grim future with the implementation of the State Government’s poker machine tax, claiming an independent report compiled by insolvency experts Ferrier Hodgson had “under-estimated” its impact.

The Panthers Leagues Club currently provides a $1.5million grant to the football club but according to the report will be unable to continue doing so as of this year.

“If the poker machine tax goes ahead there’s not a snowballs chance in hell that clubs will be able to afford to sponsor rugby league”, Cowan said.
“We’re certainly considering every angle possible at the moment of how we can restructure our business so that we can continue to survive.”

I don't care if the government takes 50% out of the revenue from pokie machines, it make me sick to see so many pokies being played constantly.

Panthers makes enough profit from alcohol sale alone to keep the team going for a long time, they will still turn a huge profit.

My parents get taxed more than 40c for every dollar they earn why can't a club which makes its money by emptying peoples wallets?

Pokies have to be the most boringest things anyway, id rather go to a pub or club and watch a live band and have a few drinks than sit on my ass putting in $100's in bloody pokie machines
