basically they said: the eels just dont have the tallant to compete in this comp and no coach can coach a bunch of guys to win if theres no tallant. or words to that effect.

And how's this for talent - Thormna, Dykes, WItt, Hindmarsh, Cannings, Cayless, Graham, Vaealiki, Lyon, Grothe, Tsoulos, Armit...

We DO have talent. But the players seem reluctant to display it week in, week out.

Grain of salt time. Gus is Smithy's mate - he wouldn't bag him.

At the start of the year, we were all happy with the roster. Thorman would add a new dimention to the halves (he may still yet), Cannings would add thrust up the middle, Pearson was a seasoned campaigner, Muclkert and Muspratt ame with good wraps. Oh, and McKinnon was a waste of money LOL!

Put it this way, what talent did Saints posess that we didn't? Their advantage was enthusiasm and confidence - they gave us more dropped ball than crutching time at a sheep station. At half time they had done 50% more tackling than us. Yet, they played like enthusiastic kids do, not programmed robots too afraid to use the flair and spontenaiety that God gave them.

Face it, it's back to the early nineties for this club.

Oh what a lot of crap.. We have the talent. They would be in the NRL is they didnt possess some kind of talent. We just need a coach that can utilize it. Not punish it. Here is an interesting fact for you. Did you know that each week Smith sets up a game plan (fine, he is the coach, thats his job) but if players step out of that game plan, even if we score tries, etc from it, they get roasted at training the next day. Now how is that developing players???
