He's trying to do a hatchet job on Rugby League because of his love of Rupert and Gallop.

He's on a mission to undermine David Smith and he's failing.
The Sloth is getting more desperate by the day.
Didn't he write a puff piece about Smith when he went to a game with him not long ago?
Honestly all they would need to do is deliver him a carton of New every 3-4 days to keep him happy.

NRL
The NRL today clarified recent media commentary regarding the use of hire cars by the game’s Chairman or CEO.
Like other major organisations, the NRL uses hire cars from time-to-time – but only when schedules are tight, parking restricted or at times when taxis are difficult to get.
On these occasions, cars are secured at special corporate rates.
Recent media commentary acknowledges that other leading sports administrators use a hire car when they are travelling interstate.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Australian Rugby League Commission, John Grant, lives in Brisbane and travels interstate when he comes to Sydney. He uses taxis when his tight schedule allows.
In regards to Dave Smith, it should be noted that his car is one from the Game’s sponsor, Holden, and not a hire car. His use of hire cars is consistent with the demands of a CEO.

Set Of Six is a bit concerned the NRL saw cause on Sunday to issue a statement about gossip columns bagging David Smith and John Grant for using hire cars and drivers. Previously, the NRL didn't seem to care when Smith and Grant were portrayed as aloof, refusing to play that game. But a statement posted on the NRL website pointed out that the big bosses use hire cars only when cabs are scarce and that Smith's car is provided by a sponsor. Has the league been worn down to the extent that it believes its image is the trouble? Would the NFL or Premier League bother denying their big-earning bosses get chauffeured around? Could be a slippery slope (P.S: This writer is not trying to influence anybody to do anything so it's not a 'damned if you do " situation)
