Pick a couple of movies

Only two - no more.

The idea is that you suggest movies that you love/rate highly/recommend that are sleepers or at least underrated - movies that you think other posters will not have seen.

Limiting it to a max of two as it would be good to have people watch what is suggested and then comment/rate/back up etc the recommended movies.

What do we think? Worth doing? Who's in for it and will try and watch what is suggested by others?

I LOVE watching a good "B" grade flick that works. There are some very good gems out there that are eventually forgotten. I'll also be happy to watch other peoples suggestions.

I have two gems from the 70s and 80s. Both of these are on DVD but might be hard to find.

1. When a Stranger Calls. This is one of the scariest movies that I've ever seen. It is hard for me to go too much into it without giving away spoilers, but please give this one a look. The sequel and remake are absolute crap. Get the original 1979 version and tell me what you think.

2. The Stepfather. This movie never got the credit that it truly deserved. Based on a real true story (not loosely like some Hollywood flicks) on a true psychopath who assumes different identities after he kills people. Once again, I don't want to go too much into it. The performance from Terry O'Quinn in the title role was brilliant. Once again, this was given an inferior sequel and remake. Brilliant!!!!

I'm not a big fan of Chappie but it definitely has the base for a good movie.

My suggestions probably haven't been seen by everyone, but I think they are pretty darn good.

1. To end all Wars. A WWII movie set in a Japanese POW camp. Stars Keifer Sutherland, Robert Carlyle and Mark Strong

2. The Fountain. Sci-fi/drama set over 3 time periods with the same characters connected. Weird and a bit hard to understand for some, but I love it and have my own theory on the story (whether it's correct or not).
Directed by Darren Aranofsky, stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz.

Stanley Spidowski rocks.

Also the Nanny before being famous.

We have a very crappy version and my teenagers groaned when we first put it on. Not long after they were wetting themselves.

We are constantly repeating lines from it, you so STuupid being a favourite, and every now and again we give my sister a spatula for Christmas.

Great movie. Whenever this comes on rotation on TCM etc I watch it. Great acting, tension & story.

My addition is The Hill - directed by Sidney Lumet & starring a young(ish) Sean Connery - 1965.
