Pick a couple of movies

The King of Comedy - You'd expect that a Scorsese film starring Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis to be very well known, but it doesn't seem to be. Absolutely underrated. I hold this film as my prime example of why De Niro should have done more comedic roles, it's just about my favourite performance of his. It's a real gem.

I have no idea why this one has been so underrated either. I agree, it's a gem. Rupert Pupkin.

Amélie - It's a french movie that if you haven't watched you need to. Very different to any american movie, the director of this always puts out weird movies that you will find interesting (Micmacs another of his I love).
One of my favourite movies ever.

Matilda.
Princess Bride.

Mr Holmes - Ian McKellan plays an elderly Sherlock Holmes who's memory is fading. He is trying to recall a case that he solved years ago by trying to put the pieces of his memory back together. Also has a focus on his friendship with his housekeeper's son who he is trying to mentor.

99 Homes - Andrew Garfield gets evicted from his home by Michael Shannon after the global financial crisis. He then goes to work for Shannon evicting other families from their homes.

I quite enjoyed Mr. Holmes. It was a little slow to start, but by the end I was thoroughly entertained by it.

Das Boot ...EDIT... Someone posted this!!

Dark City
Man on the Moon

Loved Dark City. Ahead of its time.

Wasn't a huge fan of Man on the Moon, probably because I wasn't a huge fan of Kauffman.

f**k it. One more

Stranger than Fiction - Will Farrell, very enjoyable!

Big fan of this one. Reminds me a lot of Punch Drunk Love, albeit a good deal more accessible.

If you like Ong Bak then see The Raid and The Raid 2. They are Indonesian martial arts movies with amazing stunts and fight choreography.

Sicario is a good film that came out recently, not that well known.

"The Raid" is incredible.

Interesting, I had no idea about that.
I wonder where they'll go from the original, hope they don't ruin it.

They were going to make a tv series, but it might just be a sequel movie now. They aren't sure.

When our pilot episode begins, it?s seven years since the events shown in ?Jerome Bixby?s The Man From Earth? and John Oldman now calls himself John Young. No longer with Sandy, he?s contentedly teaching at a small college when a group of devoted students seem to stumble onto his secret. Taking no chances, John prepares to leave the school but his plans go awry and he finds himself in a crisis.

We also learn that Art Jenkins wrote a book about the fateful night when John told his friends the truth of his existence. Insisting that it was a not a novel but a true story, Art was discredited and has grown bitter and resentful, anxious to once again confront John, if he could only find him.
And thanks to Art?s book, there are other people who want to know more about this mysterious ?immortal.?

Soon John finds himself in the heart of a terrible conflict between what he knows to be right, and the limits of any man's humanity.

John has spent so many years? centuries? with his head kept down, keeping his profile low while teaching students and helping people when he could. But what if the changes in recent years have made that more difficult, even impossible?

Where could John go to hide? In a world where security cameras and social media track our every move, how do you remain unseen, especially when there are people looking for you? How do you continue to teach, to help? to do the things which are essential to your humanity?

How does a man who values privacy above all deal with the loss of his anonymity?

And beyond that -- what if the changes to the Earth have taken an unexpected toll? What if, after fourteen thousand years, John Oldman is... aging?

Loved them both. Throw in The Omega Man too.

I got my son to sit and watch Logan's Run as it came on Fox Classics a whileback and he hated it except for the end where mate fires his weapon and it literally destroys the city with one shot. My son was like "Jesus I want that gun!".

I got the same reaction from him with the original Tron as well as Krull. :D

Chook.

I've been wanting to rewatch moneyball for a while now. Great story and a lot of great stuff in there to learn from - measuring what is important rather than relying on what everyone else uses to keep score - leading indicators rather than counting and judging only by outcomes.
