Something a bit lighter than a few may get a laugh out of

When he was 1st selected for the All Blacks, in his 1st interview he stated how 1 day he would love to play Rugby League for the Kiwis, and that caused a massive stir in NZ

Was dropped last year from the ABs, and got his recall yesterday

Journalist interviews him, and asks what he thought of last weekends Bledisloe Test, and he replied

"I didn't watch it, i was over at Mums watching the League":lol:

Will be sure to ruffle a few more of the rugby folks feathers

He is considered one of the most talented halfbacks in New Zealand because of his unique ability to kick goals and also play No. 10 due to his Rugby League background.

There has been interest from the Gold Coast to sign Weepu to play rugby league. Gold Coast CEO Michael Searle said "He's a good player with plenty of experience at the top level in rugby union, and it would be good to get him back to rugby league if we can." Weepu has already been offered a formal invitation to play for the Kiwis in the centenary All Golds celebration by the New Zealand Rugby League. He is thinking of playing in the NRL in 2009

he came over and trained with the Knights in the off-season 2 seasons ago. looks like he would go alright in league, but would be interesting if he would give up Union while he has been recalled. surely the most likely he was to coming was when he was dumped from the AB's before the World Cup last year.

The noises being made was that he may switch over at the end of the year, but that is all paper talk

His family is a passionate Rugby league family, some of you may remember big Billy Weepu from the mid-late 90s, think he is Piri's big bro

I remember billy. Didn't he get sh*tcanned when frank stanton wandered into a nightclub at 2am the night before a match and saw billy cutting up sick on the dance floor ?

Piri Weepu and others like Umunga are classic examples of why we must get a second NRL team in NZ. Junior rugby league players like this are lost to union because there arent enough pathways for them in rugby league.

Id go as far as saying in terms of expansion a second NZ team is more important that anywhere else due to the player talent in can provide.

Prepare to be shot down by people want perth back and or the central coast and or a 2nd brisbane team.

Like it or not NZ provides a natural source for player talent. Many of the best players come over here at a young age. Others go to play union. All i am saying is if you provide more opportunites for them they are likely to stay in rugby league. Hence that will improve the NZ national team. - who by the way beat us in the tri nations only 3 years ago and then took us to extra time only two years ago.

Well any new teams are likely to happen in lots of two.

Just seems to me that if we are losing players the best new team would be one that provides a natural source of players. The reality is there are probably many NRL ready players running around in NZ union right now.

I tend to think its more likely that we may see at least one sydney team relocate in the next 10 years to either a perth , brisbane or Central coast.
