The Parramatta National Rugby League Club wishes to advise that player PJ Marsh has agreed to terms to a two year deal.

“This is great news for the Club. PJ has established himself as one of the best halfbacks in the game, and ads to the tremendous depth in our playing roster for 2005. PJ will play a vital role in the Parramatta resurgence,” Parramatta Eels Chief Executive Denis Fitzgerald said.

“PJ left us at the end of the 2001 season as a player with great potential, and he has certainly fulfilled that. He will be a tremendous asset to our Club in 2005 and can play halfback, five eighth or hooker,” Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brian Smith said.

its true its true!!!!!!!!!!!!

its on the official Parra Website now!!!!!

PJ has signed for 2 years officially with us and it would certainly suggest that he has been given a preliminary all clear to play and will be given a final all clear in the coming months!!!!!

and the blurb from DF particularly as well as BS as well suggests he may be slotting into the number 7???? especially as DF describes him as having "established himself as one of the best halfbacks around" and BS mentions halfback first out of all the positions he plays?????

poor Witty, but i guess when it is PJ we are talking about, you can't really argue i suppose and Witty is still very young and will fight hard i'm sure

Yeh, its great news.

He may just be the final piece in the puzzle.

ROLL ON 2005 - even with Smithy. (ie. as coaching director ;-) )

as he should have been from 2002 onwards :? :? :?

DF's comment was pretty pointed considering he extablished himself as one of the game's best hookers with the warriors ;-)

BNGB,

think he has been given a preliminary clearance for next year and should be given a final clearance within months

and i think Parra would not have signed him without being given a pretty good rap by Doctors and certainly would not have announced it yet

i think this may have been done some weeks ago, like Avenger and others hinted at and they were waiting for some clearance

so he has been cleared to play for next year :?:

He was cleared by his doctors to resume last week - I believe he was waiting on clearance by the Eels club doctor. I would hazard that this was the case as they were waiting on his clearance before any announcement was to take place.

I think long term this could be good for Witty, Green and Smith.

I don't know mate.

I mean, I would have thought that having JT as the halfbacks coach would have done wonders for him, but apparently not.

True, JT should be a help however the fact that they have a Qld rep player ahead of them

a) gives them the time to develop

and

b) something to strive for.

At the moment they have been moved along faster than would be ideal due to the factinjuries have forced that move. If PJ can return to fitness they can work on their game without the added pressure of having to be the go to man at 17, 18 or 19. Maturity in the halfback role IMO is a must....

No, No...well yes. Not doubting, Just anyone can write a press statement. And i just recieved an email myself.

Its fantastic news, for years we have said "we have the players", "Should make tiop 4" etc... and sometimes perhaps that is warrented, and other times perhaps we are kidding ourselves slightly. But next year, no excuses, with the depth we have, all the injuries in the world won't stop us.

I can already hear everyone saying "Parra bouhgt the premiership, just like they tried to do after Super League!". Well so what, Everyone else buys them, so why can't we.
