I think long term this could be good for Witty, Green and Smith.

I don't know mate.

I mean, I would have thought that having JT as the halfbacks coach would have done wonders for him, but apparently not.

True, JT should be a help however the fact that they have a Qld rep player ahead of them

a) gives them the time to develop

and

b) something to strive for.

At the moment they have been moved along faster than would be ideal due to the factinjuries have forced that move. If PJ can return to fitness they can work on their game without the added pressure of having to be the go to man at 17, 18 or 19. Maturity in the halfback role IMO is a must....

Some great points there mate.

Don't get me wrong - even on Saturday I could see glimpses of Witt's talent (his kicking game was quite accurate).

When PJ returns to full fitness, I would love to see him at halfback and Morris at 5/8, with either Witt or Smith coming off the bench in spurts.

And I am very happy to have our very own Prodigal Son back.

but thats the problem eelementary

you can't, shouldn't or don't have specialist halfbacks coming off the bench in spurts to take over from the starting halves

no successful teams (barring immensly talented rep teams) do this and i would hate to see Parra do something liek that

i think now it seems obvious that 2005 will start off as

6. Morris
7. Marsh

and i for one hope it stays that way and the halves (whoever they end up being)are allowed to play the full game and develop a solid combination

the only bench player we will need for a similar purpose is someone to spell Piggy and that could end up being Wags in my opinion???????

 Welcome home PJ :D

Next year it's likely we will have 4 players in our top 17 who have returned to the club after leaving....

horrible club to be at, just ask jamie! :^o

As for PJ fitting in. I would imagine, assuming all have good off seasons
6. Witt
7. Marsh
9. Riddell

Morris comes on off the bench and Riddell plays a similar role to what he does at the Dragons where he will be used as a running forward or hooker after the initial 20 minutes (pending on the game situation..)

Yeah, it's complex.

I mean, I'd love for Witty to get a good go.

But IMHO, and I'm sure others are of a similar opinion, if Marsh is 100% fit and confident and in form, not having him play either at halfback or 5/8 is ludicrous.

I would LOVE to see:

6. Marsh
7. Witt

But where would that leave Morris? He wants to (and probably deserves to be, after all the efforts he has put into our under-performing team in the years) be a starting player. I guess, if we had to, we could put him at lock?

Oh I don't know.

there are obviously many scenarios about who will play where and that may well be ne of them PB???

i just don't think being a bench player (at this important stage of his career) will sit well with Morris - even though i agree something like that could possibly be the best fit for the team???

so therefore, i expect the youngest and least experienced and least experienced in terms of rep footy of the trio to again be dropped back - poor Witty???

however, i don't think we will see Witty played on the bench as Piggy's utility, so it may be someone else and depending on what happens with the forwards.....it could even be Wags????????

I agree.

Probably thr best scenario is for Morris to be a bench player. But he wouldn't enjoy it, and I don't think it would be fair to him either (as I said, he was a consistent performer for us and deserves a starting spot).

Sometimes I think having too much depth and talent in one position is a burden, rather than a (damnit I can't remember the synonym) good thing.

that is a fantastic point you make. i really think that this might be a point worth getting some press next time Hadley and others want to start bagging the place for being an unhappy club and a place players want to leave.

can't wait till 05...

Hadley will just say the only reason they came back was because Parra offered them a truckload of $$$$$.

Hadley's reason for EVERY player that leaves Parra is Smith
Hadley's reason for EVERY player that comes to Parra is $$$

Actually!

I've been thinking about sending bolts an e-mail about challenging him to donate his two weeks pay from the work he did in Athens to the "spastic society" of NSW

what do think? ;-)

We would have signed him to a heavily incentive based contract. If we win the Grand Final and he plays for Australia we might end up paying him a truckload of $$$$. And if that was the outcome, he'd be worth every one of those dollars. :D
