If they are looking for someone to have an impact at dummy-half, Parramatta's PJ Marsh is a forgotten player. Maroons hooker Cameron Smith is not threatening the NSW defence. Marsh can make breaks and would keep the Blues forwards on their toes.

Phil Gould saying that is just an opinion. Worth nothing more than yours or mine, probably less since he's in the opposition camp.

There are reports that Wing will get starting hooker ahead of Priddis which will open up a bench spot

Riddell being an impact player either 2nd row or hooker off the bench would be good.

Priddis if you are just going to stick with one hooker over 80.

Riddell and Wing would make a awesome combintion. Impact always out of Dummy half.

I'd prefer the less Parra Players to be in Origin actually...... even though it is a huge accomplishment for them, I am a selfish bitch and would prefer them to play for us every week, without having to worry about backing up.

In saying that though, I'm so proud with any of the guys that are picked for rep sides

Gotta agree

There is always a little bit of me hoping Hindy gets dumped from NSW & Australia just so he won't miss any games for Parra.

but it is a greta personal achivement for the players and to be honest on form Marsh, Wagon, Morrison, Grothe, Hindmarsh and even Riddell, Morris and T.Smith deserve to be playing Origin.

Short term - yes, it's better for the Eels not to make rep teams.

But long term.....I assume you've all noticed how much Hindmarsh has improved since becoming an Origin and Australia regular?

The benefits of having class players, in great form, like Grothe, Tahu, Riddell and Morrison play rep footy would see short term losses to Parramatta, but long term benefits too - which I believe are far more important.

And on Priddis, I think Riddell is more important. He plays for a winning team, he kicks goals, he makes great impact AND he can even play second row at a pinch.

Not to undermine Priddis, whom I rate highly.

I disagree that Origin has made Hindmarsh a better player. Hindmarsh was a freak a long time before winning initial selection. Then dumped while being the best club backrower in the comp. Then readmitted because the Eels were giving it to the other teams.

He has always been a freak & only cemented a spot because of his club consistancy demanded so. When given the chance (& game time) he showed his value. He didn't become an origin player, he proved he was an origin player.

I actually like the early Hindmarsh better although both versions are still better than any other backrower in the world. In other cases I think players have become better for the experience but not Hindmarsh. He has been producing since his debut.

I never saw his lower grade expliots but I haven't missed a Hindmarsh 1st grade game & from the first day he had Australia & Origin written all over him!

I think it has made him a more complete player who knows when to inject himself on a game instead of trying to do everything for the team. He has taken on a senior responsibility in the rep matches that has come back to help the Eels. One of the League magaizines put it perfectly - last year he was a madman running around, this year he is a match winner. In the past Hinmdy has done too much and the team have come to rely on him every week - much like the Knights and Johns. Now he is letting other players put their hand up and doing what he has to and not what he is capable of doing.

There used to be many similarities to how Hindy and Brad Clyde used to play. However tyhis year Hindy is playing like an early version of Brad Clyde rather than the workhorse Clyde became during the second half of his career.

I agree with the selection of some of those players Hurri.

I think we may see a changing of the guard at the end of this season, especially if the Eels stay in thier current position on the ladder.

Most of our recent rep players have come from the dogs, chooks and panfers. These teams a re clearly out of form and so are their players.

Case in point, Luke Lewis, on stand by for SOO 2. He was the other winger last year, but on current form, you wouldn't pick him. But the selectors will.

With those teams finishing lower on the ladder this year, we may well see more Eels, Sea Eagles and Cowboys etc, in the Aussie team.

There is a small article in today's Telegraph regarding the possible fact that Bowen may be dropped from Origin 3 because they don't think that they can carry both he and Slater in the team, particularly with Bowen's defence against the big guys.

I'm almost certain we will see PJ in his role off the bench.

The oarticle yesterday regarding Wing getting the starting role for NSW also makes me wonder. I think the bench role will be between Piggy and Dean Young.
