If Johnny Sattler can play a Grand Final with a broken jaw surely Chris Lawrence can play 3 weeks after having his repaired, good head gear and plenty of padding should get you through a game, toughen up boys this is sudden death.

and Lawrence will be out for up to 6 months. I'd like Lawry to get through an off season.

If he breaks it again in the first five minutes we're down to a 3 man interchange bench.
Sheens only ever uses 3 men through the first 73 - 77 minutes (sometimes 80) so that wouldn't be anything new.

And in fact, it's usually only a 2 man bench through the first half.

Play Chris Lawrence FFS, if it breaks again, so be it, there's a whole off-season to get over it.

He is only worth playing if he has confidence in it, which going by the press he seems to have as it claims he wants to play.

No point having him out there if he is scared to tackle because he might damage his jaw again

Particularly if it has a plate or screws, another hit and the damage will be far worse than the original break.... not sure if it has got either tho.

he would have a mirco plate and screw inserted..... Insition made inside the mouth to ensure that there is no visable scaring on the face.

Probably 5 hole plate. 2 wither side of the fracture and one through either side of the fracture to ensure it is reduced and healing process can commence.

Bone is bone (Leg, arm, cheek) and it takes approx 6 weeks to get back to 95% of the pre fracture strength.

He will play. No point holding him back for one more week if we dont have a game in 1 more week.

Besides, its a cheek and the refs should be insuring that he doesnt get hit in the cheek. After all, isnt it thier job?

There's an old story (might be true, who knows eh?) about Chris Mortimer being told by the club doc that he (Mortimer) would be unavailable for selection that weekend due to a pin still in his wrist.

Legend has it that Mortimer walked back to his ute in the carpark at Bellmore and used a power tool to remove the offending object.

Go figure.

Thanks for the info Bricey - you obviously know your stuff.

Big difference copping a busted jaw during a game and playing on adrenalin, and doing what Chris would have to do....knowing what he knows, knowing the opposition know.
Chris' ordeal some might suggest would be a tougher effort than satts?
