Souths Fantasy Manager game #1.

The problem:

Mark Hughes has taken a few well-earned months off work. There are some tough decisions to be made and so Richo has decided to put you in charge of retention.

The first thing you do is to call Sonic and Fein and seek their advices. They arrive at your office in raincoats, carrying briefcases and wearing sunglassess.

Our esteemed buddy Sonic grimaces and then presents you with a list of off-contract players at the end of this season.

Your task

Your task is to pick three players to retain from Sonic's secret list. No more and no less(!)

Sonic's List

Kane CLEAL (end 2010)
Rhys WESSER (end 2010)
Garrett CROSSMAN(end 2010)
Ben LOWE (end 2010)
Colin BEST (end 2010)
Fetuli TALANOA (end 2010)
Scott GEDDES (end 2010)
Ben ROSS (end 2010)
Chris McQUEEN (end 2010)
Shannan MCPHERSON (end 2010)
Eddy PETTYBOURNE (end 2010)
Beau FALLOON (end 2010)
Luke CAPEWELL (end 2010)
Shaun CORRIGAN (end 2010)
Jason CLARK (end 2010)
Malcolm WEBSTER (end 2010)
Junior VAIVAI (end 2010)
Josh STARLING (end 2010)
Matt MUNDINE (end 2010)
Jake SHEARER (end 2010)

Extra points and status ganied for providing reasons as to your three selections.

I appreciate that some of you may not make it through.

So God's speed gentlemen and may I say, good luck.

Other clubs fans are always welcome to have a crack.

Happy New Year and all that,

Dave.

Pettybourne - his running off Sutton's hip really blossomed last season, he seems to have a bit of mongrel about him and will keep a few other higher profile guys honest.

Corrigan - Assuming he has come through the knee injury ok. Need a couple of blokes that are no fuss, reliable and solid. This guy fits the bill and every team needs a bloodnut!

Clark - Haven't seen too much of him but anyone that knows footy can see some class in this boy. Added advantage of being a leader and will captain the big boy team in a few years.

So let it be written............

Pettybourne - modern day forward , runs hard , hits hard and has a big motor and beautiful smile ;)

Vaivai - big , strong and fast and a nack of finding the line.

Clark - works hard and has ball skills to boot - future captain and can play various positions.

Pretty simple :D

From outsider:

Pettybourne - Young and will be a great forward

Junior VaiVai - Going to develop into a quality NRL centre as proven by the last few rounds

Jason Clark - Natural leader and future captain of the Rabbits.

Interesting selections with an eye to the future.

I was thinking that big Steve could figure somewhere in the selections.

Hed make a very sensible selection at 4, which is not allowed, but I wonder if would be make three?

For all the contributors so far, this game expires in the near future and game 2 will be posted in this thread.

Tulz - went well through 2009,part of the reason we scored the most points for.

Eddie - great 2009,NZ selectors have showed their hand by his selection.

Vai Vai - showed enough promise at the back end of 2009.

Fetuli Talanoa - This guy is a star and we must keep him. I wouldn't be surprised if he scores 20 tries this year.

Eddie Pettybourne - Explosive and works well with Sutton running as a wide ranging second rower

Ben Lowe - Good utility value.

Pettybourne------developing into one of the best forwards in the game.
Vai Vai -----------looked impressive and handled the top grade at the end of last year. can find the line. I think would be a better option going forward than Best who's best years (pardon the pun) are behing him I feel.
Clark--------------havent seen much of him but from what Ive read he is a quality player

Results of game 1 will be posted soon:-

Game #2

July 2010 and Souths are leading the comp.

Richo is in Cuba looking at a a few teenage ultra-athletes as potential NYC players, you are in command.

Through various shades of fortunes, you are asked to make some tough decisions.

Q1: Easts are seeking to buy Asotasi, Pettybourne and Tyrell for $7million. This cash will secure the payments to all of the other players for some time. Do you sell these guys as a package? Remember it costs $16m to run a club for one year ( source: Richo 2009)

Q2: Champion is complaining that he is not getting enough game time. Penrith are willing to trade him for young Coote in a straight-out deal. Do you trade?

Q3: The bulldogs want Mark Hughes back. They are willing to pay an extra $120K a year for him. He doesnt want to go, will you offer him more? If you do, you will have to sack allcott. Keep Hughesy or not?

Q4: Gallop has stood down as head of the NRL. You are allowed to vote for the new contenders. They are:

a) Graham Lowe
b) Paul Osbourne
c) Roy Masters
d) Malcolm Turnbull.

Cast your vote for one only.

Q5: ANZ have siad that they will reduce the price of beer by $2.00 if they can increase gate prices by the same amount. Do you give them the go-ahead.

Q6: ABC Television aproach you as they want to make a cartoon series about Reggie the Rabbit and sell it all over the world. Do you sell the rights? We may need a new mascot, but the fee will cover the clubs admin costs for 5 years. If you decide to sell Reggie, nominate a souths-orientated mascot.

Q7. Nathan Merritt misses selection in rep sides. What action do you take (If any)?

Go for it lads. Extra points for explanations. Late comers to the game will be offered 3 points out of a possible 6 accredited for game 1 ( due to slackness).

Good luck gentlemen.
