Play the ball speed

I don't believe it.

I reckon the piss is being taken and it's the brain child of some marketing dick at the NRL.
Add this to the list of 200 stats per player, they'll never know we just make it up.

Unless someone could explain it to me...

In a set of 6 no 2 tackles might be the same.
2 man.
3 man.
Face down.
Turtled.
Spun 180.
Grasscutter after a break down the wing.

So when do they start the clock?
Can't be when a bloke gets to his feet - that can't be right.
Cant be when the balls planted.
When do they read the time?
Is a guy sitting with a stopwatch every tackle?...must have RSI.

Please enlighten me.

Please enlighten me.
Trindall is shit at it, not at a 1st grade standard, and his slowness does not allow our forward play to show.
You've chosen the wrong agenda.
A fast play the ball sets up the next playl in a good position. Anyone who can truly watch rugby league knows that.
Try again.

I agree with everything you've said...although I have no idea if trindall is shit at it as they're just numbers on a page.

And it's those numbers which this thread is about.

Pretty sure I explained it clear enough:
Tell me how you measure the time it takes to play the ball.

Because I think it's BS.

Moi: It is up to your dummy half to slap you on your head or arse or just to clap fast and loudly to get you up off the ground to play the ball quickly.

It was once a very simple game.

Trindal is just slow at everything he does but somehow looks rushed at the same time.
Im over his little toddler tantrums mid game when something doesn’t go his way, he looks more mentally weak than Hynes

I did wonder this when you 2 were discussing it in a gentlemanly manner the other day. Is it from when the defenders let go or when the tackle is completed (as in the guy playing the ball has to shrug someone off when the ref calls held, is it starting then when they're untangling)

You got my point Cheese.
There is no way there could be any consistency in this stat
There's a multitude of different scenarios in a RL tackle.

My main point being when do you start and stop timing a play the ball.

The stat is total BS and thrown onto the long list irrelevant information that people love to quote.

I'm putting a football team together, I don't gives two-fifths of a flying f**k whether Nathan cleary takes 1.75 seconds or 3.69 seconds to play the ball.

Nicho hynes can play it at warp speed I'm still not signing him as my halfback.

The ref calls held.
Some defenders let go straight away, some take their time.
Some get away with murder.

Yet the clock starts at the same time.

Ima say trindall doesn't run the ball out from our line but tends to be tackled more in the opposing 20, where players are more likely to hold down for longer to allow their line to set in defending the tryline...
Thus this BS stat would have his BS time as longer.

Anyway who cares.
I just needed to highlight what a farce this stat was.
